Ratings for all the Viacom networks are down during this dispute. Overall they are down 27%

Nick at Nite is down 48%, Nickelodeon is down 45%

Comedy Central is only down 5.5%

So does DirecTV account for that much of the viewership for these channels? That seems much bigger than I would have thought.

I called and they gave me $20 off for 12 months. And $150 off NFL Ticket. I tried to get it for free... :(

how long have you been a DirecTV customer?

About 6 years... I hardly ever call to get adjustments. Only once in a while when I notice the packages change so I can update the CHOICE Plus channels. I don't get any premium channels.

^^ With $20 off per month for the next year, you can now afford HBO or Showtime and watch some of those serial dramas you know nothing about. ;)

Got a lovely CSR in retentions, received: free SHO for 6 months, $10 off for 3 months, $20 off for 1 year (in addition to that extra $10 the first 3), free new DVR-34 (records 5 things at once) w/free install, free upgrade in bedroom from receiver only to HD-DVR (with no DVR fee for 12 months), continued free HD access and continued free primary TV fee.

I just called back and got $1 million dollars, a lifetime supply of blowjobs from Kate Beckinsale, and a brand new Lamborghini Diablo.

Did you have to sign a new contract for that?

Any chance we might talk them into giving us access to Kate's hoo-hah?

I called again (after getting $5 off for and Showtime for 6 months last week), and couldn't get any more credits. Just Starz and HD Extra pack for a few months. I wonder if the fact that I've got a couple $10/month referral discounts kind of screws me out of more?

The lady did say, however, that they've reached an agreement on most all of the channels, but Viacom is demanding they add another channel as part of the deal. Which channel could that be?

I hope Comedy Central reruns Futurama and Workaholics.

I'm just glad I locked in my sweet discount.

The statement by DTV is much more heavy-handed than Viacom's:

Chang added, “The attention surrounding this unnecessary and ill-advised blackout by Viacom has accomplished one key thing: it serves notice to all media companies that bullying TV providers and their customers with blackouts won’t get them a better deal. It’s high time programmers ended these anti-consumer blackouts once and for all and prove our industry is about enabling people to connect to their favorite programs rather than denying them access.”

So I ended up losing 2 Futurama episodes in exchange for $90 and 6 mos of free SHO/STZ/HDXtra Pack. I can live with that.

Anybody know if Futurama is on Comcast VOD? Maybe I can watch them next time I'm at my mom's house.

So is there an Epix channel now?

Re: DirecTV to drop 26 Viacom Channels at 7/10 Midnight

i don't think so, at least not yet. i think the statement indicates they have an option to add it, but there's nothing to indicate they have done it or will do so at any point right now.

also hidden by this news is that DirecTV added TCM in HD yesterday.

That seemed to be a sticking point in this whole negotiation. Directv is dead set against adding EPIX for some reason, which is a shame because I'd really like to have that channel.
