HBO renews Eastbound & Down for a 4th season
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118056210
HBO is going back to the ballpark with "Eastbound & Down," picking up the comedy series for a fourth season.
Pay cabler confirmed that Danny McBride-starrer, which recently concluded its third season in April, will go forward with eight episodes.
McBride exec produces with Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay of Gary Sanchez Prods., along with Jody Hill.
Show premiered its third season on Feb. 19 to 1.3 million viewers, with horseracing drama "Luck" as a lead-in, and was paired with "Life's Too Short." The season closed out on April 12 to 1.1 million viewers.
The past season featured McBride's politically incorrect character Kenny Powers -- a former Major League Baseball pitcher -- living in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and coping with a newborn baby as a single parent.
Show also stars Steve Little, Elizabeth De Razzo and Katy Mixon. Last season's guests included Jason Sudeikis and Matthew McConaughey. Ferrell also occasionally appears.
HBO recently renewed two others laffers: Lena Dunham's "Girls," and "Veep," starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and also gave new-season orders on Monday for dramas "The Newsroom" and "True Blood."
Wow, I am shocked that they renewed it.
Well, I'm game for more Kenny Powers.

April's going to be pissed.
How old is Kenny supposed to be? Mid-40's? I'm more than happy to watch another season as I got alot of laughs from season 3, but I hope McBride and Hill think of something a little different than Kenny wanting to make another MLB comeback. That ship has sailed. He got called up by "Texas" and quit to be a recluse and live his life with April and the kid.

What the fuck. I thought Season 3 was the last one they were going to do?
I didn't think HBO didn't want the show anymore, I just thought they were ending it.....how did this happen?

I'm guessing whatever Jody Hill was working on or was planning on doing ended up not happening and i guess Danny McBride was free

Weird that they're doing another season after how last season ended.
But I agree, they have to do something different than Kenny going for a comeback. No team will touch him (not even for the farm team) after what he pulled. His baseball career is over.
Maybe it'll centre around his starting his own business or something.

I'm in for more too but I feel that they did a good job of completing his story. I'd love to see them do a prequel going back to his playing days but there's no chance of that happening. If it's just about his life as a devoted father, I can see it being plenty funny.

I work with a guy named Kenny Powers... you don't know how hard it is to not scribble "Fucking" under his first name on his door.

You ain't kidding either.
You can tell they tried hard to not keep the camera steady on him as he pitched. But at times you can still see how awkward his throws are.
Doubtful in reality. No organization would put up with him in any capacity after what he did - especially as a manager.
