Yeah, now I really think the Charleston thing is the Aliens' neutral zone deal. His daughter stays behind, that's definitely a plot point.

Only 10 minutes into this ep. and already a slew of suck: the Berserker sniper's embarrassing rapping, the youngest kid's atrocious acting ("That was...AWESOME!"), Ben's ability to hear the motorcycle from miles away, when the mechs (or whatever they're called) in the factory just yards away can't; and now Weaver finds his daughter? REALLY?
The lone highlights: Surprisingly gory alien head explosions, and Moon Bloodgood. (
)
The only thing this show improved on this season versus last is the set design. My biggest complaint last season was that the show lacked dirt and grit and an an atmosphere of desperation. Loving the look of the show this time around, but that's about it.

Yeah, so my biggest complaint about this show is the damned kids and what do they do? Introduce a whole new pack of them. And even that annoying kid from the Killing.
It sucks that I feel invested and have to keep watching this. There are a few bright spots to it, but I still find myself only half paying attention.

Please help me understand this:
The new kids all got captured, and had to be rescued by the adults. Afterwords, the new kids believe that they will be safer without the adults?

I like the addition of Henry from the now defunct Sanctuary. I hope he becomes more of a central character.

Also what happened with the Mechs? The rescue team is going crazy shooting up everything in the harness room, but no mechs show up to fight them off.

I don't know why I keep watching it when it annoys me to this degree...

Enjoyed the first 3 episodes of this season, but #4 really disappointed. I agree with all the criticisms mentioned above. I'd like to think it can only get better, but that's probably just wishful thinking.
I hate that there's only 10 episodes, but isn't 10-13 episodes kind of a trend these days with cable shows? What happened to the days when shows averaged 22 episodes per season? Hell, the old Dallas sometimes did 30 per season!

My wife is addicted to this show and while she could watch it on their website for free last summer, no dice this year. We don't have cable. Suggestions?

1) Call a friend who has cable/satellite and get their sign on to use on the TNT page. The TNT page however has alot of commercials.
2) Pay $2 or $3 per episode on Amazon Instant Video.

10-15 episodes is usually the episode count for most cable shows.
TNT usually gives anywhere from 10-18 episodes for their shows. They gave The Closer 21 for this current season because it's the last one. Falling Skies only got 10 because of the high costs and extra time needed for post production.

I guess if you don't want to pay for cable, satellite or online episodes, you'll have to wait for Season 2 to come out on DVD or blu-ray.

I picked her up an HD season pass at Amazon. She's been a real trooper at home lately, taking care of our baby girl with a fever this week. She deserves a treat. Too bad part of that treat involves episode four, apparently.

This episode might not have been the greatest, but I liked the focus on familial relationships that pervaded the ep. The relationship between Tom and Matt. The relationship between Capt Weaver and his daughter. The family that the kids had formed themselves in the absence of adults, and the daughter's (and Diego's) devotion to it.

Cable has less ad revenue and smaller budgets. Networks have alot more money.
Cable seasons are also shorter in a calendar year. They program for summer and spring. Sometimes the summer seasons get split and the back half airs in the winter when the networks are in hiatus. Networks have to fill programming for roughly 8 months.

Doesn't make much sense, but I'm so glad they didn't stick around. The last thing this show needs is more kids!
