Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) Kickstarter Documentary Project

Saw this mentioned somewhere.

There is a kickstarter project for a documentary of Andy Whitfield, it focuses on when he was battling his illness:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...hitfield-story

Be Here Now” is an inspiring feature documentary and love story, about the overnight sensation, actor and international sex symbol Andy Whitfield, who put the same determination and dedication that he brought to his lead role in the hit television show, “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” into fighting life threatening cancer.

This is Andy's story, but it also about having the courage to make your dreams come true, tackling your fears and living in the present, despite the potential outcome. This film is for anyone who has ever faced a challenge in their lives.
Starz has put a large donation in, and is also interested in airing the documentary.

that's some heartbreaking stuff in that little trailer. damn.

Andy was on the verge of becoming a huge star... it's just a fucking shame.

Is it true that he beat the cancer (or that it was in regression) but it came back?

That is what I remember, that was the reason why they had the prequel, because the thought was he was beating it..and then he could come back..but things took a turn for the worse I think.

I plan to donate. To me it's the one real way to show how much of a fan we say we are. I hope they Close Caption the eventual DVD.

That'd be a hard documentary to watch knowing from the outset how it's going to end, particularly because we know they think he's beaten it.

Somehow I didn't realize he was 40 years old. Didn't realize you were allowed to look that good at that age.

I hope this gets completed and Starz airs it. It would be very hard to watch, but I think Andy's story is very compelling.

From what I recall, Andy got diagnosed shortly after season 1 completed airing. The excerpt from the documentary showed him mentioning that he didn't feel good after the season wrapped and got a checkup and was diagnosed.

Steven DeKnight created the Gods of the Arena prequel to give Spartacus fans something while Andy was in treatment. He then went into remission and started getting back into shape for season 2. I saw that summer he actually appeared at Comic Con to promote season 2. Then after Comic Con, the cancer came back and was worse and he had to quit the show for good.
