Something went over my head. Why did Lane need the money?

How was Lane so broke, it was only like $8000 wasn't it? That's seemingly pocket change for Roger and Don bought a sportscar just to cheer Joan up.

I don't find Lane that interesting, but I am dying to see the fallout when the others figure out what he's done. The Don/Joan stuff was fantastic.

Am I insane, or was there a "battleship" reference in this episode? .... weird since the movie Battleship just opened this weekend.

The two of them were also wealthy before Lane ever came along. Lane didn't have a percentage in Sterling/Cooper, after all. I get the sense that Lane lives very comfortably but that there's not a lot extra to squirrel away. His financial headaches have been mentioned a couple of times recently, such as his kid's tuition.

Don didn't buy the Jag. He wanted to show Joan a good time, and the dealer wouldn't let him go on a test drive with her. His solution was to give the guy a check for the full value of the car to ease his fears about not coming back. He said afterwards that he did drop the Jag back off, though.

It was good to see Paul again, but man that angle was weird. I wanted to see him back in his suit one more time.

Who's going to catch Lane? Joan? But yeah, he's going down, and he deserves to.

Lane deserves to go down for forgery/theft while Don is in the clear for desertion and faking his death?

Subpar episode after the last handful, the one part that had me ROTF was The Negron Complex.

Good episode this week, but there have been better this season, imo. Loved Roger's save to get a reaction to Lane's speech: "You're getting bonuses and we aren't."

The stuff with Harry and Paul was good...though bizarre.

Re: Mad Men -- "Christmas Waltz" -- 5/20/12

I enjoyed this episode. I liked the Hare Krishna bit. I knew a few of those folks once so I was amused by the portrayal and I like when Mad Men covers interesting little bits of 60s history like that.

I also liked Don and Joan getting some screen time together. Rarely happens.

And Lane... poor guy. Too bad he couldn't just ask one of the partners to help him out.

When I initially saw the Hare Krishna chick, I thought "Juliette Lewis doesn't look as trailer-trashish now".

Good episode... not great.
