Eh. I went out of my way this year to try a half dozen new shows and all but one were canned. I'm going back to the "wait until season 2 is announced and play catch up on DVD" method.

FOX is doing everything they can to make sure that 24 movie never gets made. They renew the show, but throw it to the "dead zone" of time slots. Another big "F-you" from FOX to Mr. Sutherland.

I'm wondering if there was a clause in someone's contract that said more than one season of Touch had to air or a big paycheck would have to be written...

That's a penalty clause, but that usually only happens when the studio has a stipulation to the network that if you order this Pilot, but pass on it, then you have to pay $$$$ as a penalty for all the time and money spent to produce it.

Kiefer Sutherland's salary on 24 was around $550K per episode. I have to assume his contract with Touch is something very similar to it.

Wow...just Fringe this year. This all sounds lame.

It's also interesting that the 13 episodes of Fringe are running in the fall...meaning the show will be over by Christmas. I would have thought they'd save it for January (and maybe allow time for more potential fans to catch up on the DVDs). I guess at this point they just want it gone...I'm guessing it only got renewed to hit that magical "100 episode" number for syndication.

Well, you just contradicted yourself from The CW pickup thread:

Or are you willing to give Arrow a look since it's a super hero show on The CW?

It is what it is, very few hit shows come out of each new season. Grimm was surprisingly the biggest new show/hit on NBC this past season and it gets about 5-6M viewers a week and under 2.0, but considering it's on Friday night, those numbers are considered good and it got a 2nd season. Those numbers would have gotten it cancelled on any other night. You probably never even considered watching Once Upon a Time on ABC and that got some of the highest ratings for a new show this season and was renewed. Sometimes the most unlikely show will resonate with people and get renewed. As far as the FOX shows you tried this past season, Terra Nova was doomed because of the budget. Plus, I read a quote that the network President didn't even like the show. He only ordered it because his boss wanted it. Alcatraz you didn't like anyways, so it didn't matter.

The Following looks pretty good. It reminds me a little bit of Seven. I think that's a show that could really benefit from having a short season (15 episodes) Less filler.

FOX use to be my go-to channel. Now I only watch Family Guy. Maybe I'll find the new stuff interesting.

Pretty much. I miss Smallville.

As for the others, yeah Terra Nova and Alcatraz were duds. Couldn't make it past the premier of the River. I do like Person of Interest and loved Prime Suspect and Awake.

Just picked all the wrong shows to try this year.

I think just New Girl and maybe Raising Hope for me. None of the new ones look that interesting...

The Following looks interesting. Loved James Purefoy on Rome and Kevin Bacon is a plus. I'll probably check out The Mindy Project as well.

I'll check out The Following. The rest looks lame.
I learned last year not to sample pretty much anything just because it's on.
