No book>TV show will have 100% of the same scenes, as long as the overall story is true to the book and most of the important elements are kept, and as long as they have reason why they are adding new scenes, then I would be okay with it.

For example.
Spoiler:
Khal Drago didn't rape Dany in the first book.

Spoilerizing above..Are book one changes from book to screen considered a spoiler?

Where is Tywin's army, anyway? Is it split between Casterly Rock and defending King's Landing?
Renly's area (The Stormlands) is southeast of King's Landing. Dragonstone is northeast.

I think Tywin has around 60,000 men spread out over the Westerlands (the Lannister's home turf) and the Riverlands (Catelyn's ancestral home) with additional forces dispatched to defend King's Landing. Tywin's base of Harrenhal is north of the capital and relatively close by.

I just found out an atlas of the world of GoT will be released this fall, The Lands of Ice and Fire. Very cool.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to that, I can't believe they didn't make one sooner.

Is there any supplemental reading either online or in print about the history of Westeros? A chronicle of important happenings from before the events of the first season of the show?

There's a special feature with this information on the Season 1 BD.

Re-watch the scene. After Tyrion threatened the King's Gaurd, all 3 men (Hound, Bronn, The Guard) have their hands on their swords ready to draw. The Hound is also standing in front of Joffrey. He is ready to throw down if the shit hits the fan. Hes just not a talker. Because thats not his place, his job is to protect Joffrey.

Something tells me that Melissandre's little shadow demon baby is going to lay waste to Renly's army. Just a gut feeling I have.

The Complete Guide to Westeros (Discs 1-5, HD): The "Complete Guide," also accessible from the disc's main menu, includes interactive maps, family histories and, most importantly, twenty-four mini-featurettes (well over an hour's worth, all presented in HD) that explore the mythologies, lore, religious beliefs, warring factions, lands, ancestries and monumental events alluded to, referenced in or more fully examined by the series itself. The striking artwork and extensive information in each one are worth the price of admission alone; the fact that the videos are narrated by various members of the cast (narrating in character no less) is just icing on an already irresistible cake

Re: Game of Thrones -- "Garden of Bones" -- 4/22/12

I didn't go through all the special features because of the craptacular menu system they used on the disks... but I've been meaning to go back and rewatch anyway.

Are the HBO Go features the same, or different from the ones they put in the sets

Re: Game of Thrones -- "Garden of Bones" -- 4/22/12

I ripped those 22 or 24 segments and merged them into one 65-minute feature and stuffed it into my iTunes library as episode 0. I really need to watch it sometime...

Re: Game of Thrones -- "Garden of Bones" -- 4/22/12

This one is my favourite of the mini-featurettes. Harry Lloyd (Viserys) brilliantly narrates the Targaryen conquest over the Westerlands and The Reach, focusing on the pivotal battle known as The Field of Fire.

And no, I'm not bothered that much. But I don't know why I need to explain my degree of interest to you. I'm merely surprised that details are added like that. So shoot me. Why do you even need to comment on my comment?

These threads SUCK.

Yes, this is exactly the same sort of change! I'm glad you put it so succinctly!

I'm not hung up. Merely commenting on adding something completely arbitrary to the TV show. Like a character tea bagging another.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "Garden of Bones" -- 4/22/12

But, once again, it's not added. There is torture, it just may not be exactly rat torture.

Ever think that it's a lot easier and cost-efficient to strap a bucket to someone's chest than flay them alive for a tv show? That's hardly an arbitrary decision.
