Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Joffrey punishes Sansa for Robb’s victories, while Tyrion and Bronn scramble to temper the king’s cruelty. Catelyn entreats Stannis and Renly to forego their ambitions and unite against the Lannisters. Dany and her exhausted khalasar arrive at the gates of Qarth, a prosperous city with strong walls and rulers who greet her outside them. Tyrion coerces a queen’s man into being his eyes and ears. Arya and Gendry are taken to Harrenhal, where their lives rest in the hands of “The Mountain,” Gregor Clegane. Davos must revert to his old ways and smuggle Melisandre into a secret cove.

Also, please be respectful of other people in what you say in these weekly threads. Feel free to discuss what is shown and what is implied.

If want want to go beyond that, even if it's something you feel has been omitted, miscast, or just plain confusing based on what SHOULD happen, there are threads for that purpose:

Game of Thrones -- Season 2 Spoilers Thread -- Book Discussion and Other Materials

Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

And for Book Talk, there's an entire forum for that: Book Talk

I liked last week's ep. but it was mostly exposition and character development. Hopefully they get a few more things going this week. I am sure the
Spoiler:
major battle sequence will be either the next to last or season finale. I would guess the former, as there's still a bit of book left after it.

What can you do? It's not like you provided helpful links to all the appropriate threads. Some people just cannot help themself. They have to prove they know what is coming up.

All right, the city of Qarth shows up in this episode. This being HBO, I hope this part is true to the books...
Spoiler:

...because, in the books, the Qartheen fashion for women leaves one breast exposed.

(not sure if it really is a spoiler, but I spoiler tagged it anyway)

 Thanks Pinata for starting this today.

I worked a 12am to 1030am overnight shift and just barely woke up moments ago.

;) I have to pay for HBO somehow.

Holy shit. This show outdoes itself every episode.

Tyrion owned once again, Joffrey is the king of all sadists, and we also got proof that while it isn't at the forefront, sorcery is alive and well in this world. Harrenhal was more brutal than how I envisioned it in the books. The scene in the cave looked just like a scene out of a fantasy painting, which I guess was the point, but well executed, as was Qarth.

Melisandre birthing the shadow demon was interesting, and they did a decent job of representing the scene. However, it still looked like it could be turned into joke about gas or dangerous queefing, which was kind of the impression I got from the book. :shrugs:

This may be the most insane one yet. I loved every minute of it.

The bedroom scene with Joffrey was very difficult to watch. Such a monster!

I was disappointed last episode because i thought they were leaving out all the stuff about The Mountain and torturing the prisoners. Which happened way before they got to Harrenhal in the books. Well done for including it.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "Garden of Bones" -- 4/22/12

There was a lot of American Psycho in this episode. Between the Joffrey scene with the whores and the rat torture (well that one makes more sense if you read the book). Definitely got that vibe.

And they didn't have to drag Lommy around all that time before killing him, get right to the point.

I just hope more people are like you and take a breath and consider this is a different medium than the books and things may combined in other ways. Though I think it's pretty clear Dany won't be making a stop in Vaes Tolorro before Qarth. Just like the journey from the Yoren's group getting ambushed to Harrenhall, that Vaes Tolorro was just as pointless for the show.

I'm also glad they're actually showing Robb's story instead of just using hearsay like in the books.

I liked the mountain from the first season better, the casting for this year isn't nearly as intimidating.

It has been said that they will not be following that part of the book : (

Glad they pointed out that Arya wasn't really going to fool anyone of above average intelligence by saying she was a boy. Also, the actress seems to be getting taller with each episode. No way can she pass for being a ten year old anymore. Guess that's why they never really divulged the age of the children on the series, as they are obviously much older than in the books.

Grrm has already said he made a mistake making the characters so young everyone is aged up 4-6 years

They really try to out-do themselves with the weird shit every week, don't they?

Really good episode though. It felt like the story moved along more here than it has in prior episodes this season.

As soon as anyone can sit down and read one of these novels in the 8 hours the season gets to tell the story, then I will officially give a shit about their opinons about things being skipped over, mashed together, or streamlined. ;)

Queef demon looked all kinds of rad. They pulled that off amazingly well.
