It was definitely the purse.

The note read "Thank you for your hospitality. I'm sorry for putting you out. Dawn"

Dawn was cute, that's all I know - get rid of that Supremes hairstyle, and she'd be a knock-out!

Why do I get the impression that the show is evolving into an ageing Draper bumbling around and getting passed by by the younger group? I'm not going to be happy if that's the case, already Don is starting to look like a relic.

Jon Hamm is only 41 years old. Don is 40. By the time the show finishes for good by season 7, he'll only be 44 or 45? He's hardly ready for the wheel chair.

No he's not in a wheel chair but him being out of touch with the Stones last week, the new guy showing him up this week it just seems like he's going the way of Roger Sterling.

That's an interesting point and I think that's the way the show is heading. I'm okay with that. The '60s were a time for change and Don is from a different time. It makes sense for him get left behind.

This season Don hasn't really seemed as "cool" as he has in past seasons and I think that's on purpose and it's due to exactly what you point out.

That's the way that I see it.

The rise of the youth culture/counterculture will definitely test Don, but I don't see him turning into Roger. Don is actually a talented ad man, while Roger's only skill is schmoozing (and being a great TV character).

Anyone else think that Dr. Date-Rape was volunteering for more Vietnam because he kinda suspects that the baby isn't his (which also means he suspects Joan cheated on him)?

I almost stoop up and cheered when she told him that he shouldn't bother coming back.

No. He volunteered because he has no interest in a "boring" life with Joanand a kid when he's a big shot in the military. If he thought the baby wasn't his, that definitely would have come up.

I don't think he's bored back home, but he was a failure. The army makes him feel important.

As already pointed out, Don is only 40 or 41...he still has all his hair, but he keeps it combed in 1940s/50s fashion. Do you think Don will "let his hair down," lose the grease, let it grow long?

Naaaaaaah. Don't see it happening.

However, Don is a step above the norm for his generation. He went to a Beatles concert, he smoked pot, he has lovers who do heroin now...Don is not "wet behind the ears," and while he may have missed a Rolling Stones reference (what was that, by the way - I'm 41, well versed in the Stones, and I missed it, too - it could have been very subtle), he's still way above the curve for his generation, and I think Don has the capability of growing with the counter-culture.

I wonder, though, if he will take that coughing seriously, or if he will ignore his symptoms and continue smoking and drinking like there's no tomorrow.

No. It's exactly what he said. Remember - he couldn't hack it as a surgeon the traditional way (so no respect), which is why he enlisted in the first place. Now he's got respect and it makes him feel like a real man.

He's a piece of dog shite for choosing the military over his own wife and son (regardless if the kid is his or not - he has no knowledge of the deception, so for all intents and purposes, the kid is his).

Joan was right, 100% right, for telling him what she told him. It may have sounded cold, but what he did was infinitely colder.

And looking at his rape victim all the time is probably not too fun for him either.

I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Sure wasn't a problem for him when he got home and again after that. I don't think he's the kind of man, particularly in that era, who sees it as rape nor sees a victim (the term "date rape" didn't exist back then), particularly if the woman ends up being his wife.

I think he felt a little guilty about it - at least that seemed to come across when she brought it up again. Going back to the military gets him out of his weird and tense marriage and brings him the respect he thinks he deserves.

Did anyone else besides me get the vibe that Peggy was going to pull a lezbo move on Dawn? Talk about affirmative action.

Great episode - again. I loved the nod to Sally being under the couch and how it went with the murders in Chicago with the one woman that survived hiding under the bed.

It would have been cool, and I thought it could happen - until I remembered that Peggy turned down a chance at lesbianism when her gay friend tried to turn her on.

Peggy may act "man-ish," but, like Dawn said, you probably have to be in order to do the job Peggy has. And, while Peggy can't actually hold on to a man, she just can't get a boyfriend.
