Re: Beware the Batman.

Sucks but it's not that surprising to me. I wonder if the remaining episodes that were finished will at least get released. I want to say there was a total of twenty-six episodes and the recent volume that was released on DVD and Blu-ray contained thirteen episodes. I think of those thirteen two were unaired.

I think it's likely to get burned off in the Summer or early Fall. The episodes are already in the can, they might as well air them.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Eh. It was pretty common knowledge this show was cancelled already. Really surprised on no new DC shows at all though.

Re: Beware the Batman.

I saw two unaired eps the other day and was TICKED royally at the way the show ended. Major cliffhanger involving the League of Assassins.

That would be episodes 11 and 12.

Cartoon Network totally fucked up the promise of a DC Nation block.

Re: Beware the Batman.

yeah, i thought it was pretty much confirmed it was cancelled, even though there was no official word.

i'm wondering if we'll see a new DC animated show (batman or superman) when the new movie comes out in 2016.

It's not much of a secret, Bruce Timm will be handling a new Justice League series based off the New 52 characters. It will likely premiere in late 2015.

Kids are going to freak out when they find out Superman and Wonder Woman are dating.

It would have been an early April Fools last year, since the rumors started a year ago yesterday:

So DC has just given up the whole Clark Kent/Lois Lane relationship? Or is Clark dating Lois but Superman is dating Wonder Woman & Lois yet again doesn't know they are the same guy?

No, they just gave up on the relationship.

Wait, so Teen Titans Go! is also done?

Re: Beware the Batman.

Bruce Timm and Darwin Cooke have made two BATMAN shorts that will air in April.
I believe one of them is in Black & White uses the early Bill Finger/Bob Kane stories for
inspiration.

Re: Beware the Batman.

I'm sorry to have missed posting it in time, but Cartoon Network burned off the remaining seven episodes last Sunday morning. From what I've seen of them so far, the series got even darker in tone. The Man-Bat actually looked pretty frightening, definitely the scariest animated version I've seen of him.

Yeah I noticed there were a bunch on my DVR. I finished watching them and the show definitely got better towards the end. Once they got into a good story arc. The Deathstroke story line was well done.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Yeah I had noticed a bunch of episodes of this sitting on my DVR too. I missed some episodes of the series so I sort of stopped watching it so I just deleted them all. At some point I'll probably pick up the two volumes of the show on Blu-ray eventually.

Re: Beware the Batman.

The second half of its only season is supposed to come out on Blu-ray this week.

I believe the terrible character design for Batman killed this series. I get they tried moving in a different direction with his look, but it was terrible-looking CGI. He had a misshapen face. There was no way to get around that, no matter how good the storylines turned out to be.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Yeah the CG animation on the show just didn't look that great and the character designs were meh. Overall the series was pretty solid story wise and its a shame it couldn't have lasted. I think changing up some things like making Alfred MI6 (which I know has been part of his comic origin) and making him not so much the traditional butler probably threw people off too as well as I'm not sure how well the Katana character went over as opposed to just Robin or Batgirl.

I imagine the plan was to bring Batgirl into the fold for season two.

That is what killed it for me. It just was painful (figuratively) to my eyes. It would take me out of the show.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Most peculiar is that Batman's face was the worst design on the entire show. He was the most androgynous looking superhero ever designed.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Just finished it, I liked it.

I got used to the CG rather quickly however sometimes the environment seemed a bit lifeless. It did start to get darker which works just fine. At least it's not as stupid as something like Ultimate Spider-Man where they think aiming it at kids has to mean dumb and have Spider-man have the grace of a drunkin clown.

A season two would have been nice yet they are sure to replace it with something mind numbing.

Re: Beware the Batman.

Having now finished the entire season, I guess it was setting up the second season to be Batman and the Outsiders. Which would have been pretty decent, though I think using Anarky as the primary villain should have been reconsidered. No one outside the comics has ever heard of Anarky (I do think he would make a good movie villain).
