Shit, rum and cokes led me astray. Can a mod please flip this to the TV forum?

Bump for those in the East coast

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Am I racist if I say that I found it funny that the first challenge that when it came to the puzzle part of it they had the 2 Asians doing it on both tribes.
Maybe not, but I bet they are both great drivers :-) |
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
That was a lame ep! The only person playing game is Troyzan.
|
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Random thoughts:
Lief isn't the brightest bulb, is he? Trying to go under that obstacle on his stomach was really stupid. LOL at Tarzan's "poop pants" grossing everyone out. That was a mess of a tribal council. Chelsea has a nice ass. |
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I realized that Troyzan reminds me of Sam Merlotte (True Blood) with facial hair.
|
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I liked this episode. Whenever there's a ball challenge, you can count on Jeff saying something giggle-inducing. You could see Troyzan struggling to contain himself when Jeff announced: "Troyzan's balls haven't moved in ages!" :)
Really dumb to have Lief go first (and his head-first move was dumbness on top of it). If the biggest person goes first, isn't it clear that everyone else on the team will have no problem getting through the sand? I also laughed at the Jonas-Tarzan dialog: "No hard feelings bro" ... "Hard feelings to you" ... "OK" Amazingly, Tarzan spelled Jonas correctly. The same couldn't be said for Kat (Janous?) I still like that I can't quite tell where things are going. No alliance feels particularly strong (or committed to each other).

I wish they would have taken the opportunity to 'lose' Tarzan's drawers while boiling them. I could go until finale night without ever seeing him in those tiny blue panties again. I can't even imagine how horrifying it must be in person.

The girls weren't buying it though: "If it's dirt, why is it always it the place poop would be?" I didn't quite buy it either. If it's dirt from sitting on the ground, wouldn't that show up more in the cheek area instead of the crack? |

It's not entirely clear, but the women on the strong tribe have the advantage. It's pretty shrewd to get rid of a guy in tonight's round. That nearly ensures that they can either stick to their tribe OR still go for an all-girl's alliance. They could do the same thing for the next two weeks (Tarzan and Leif) and still keep both the girl's and current alliance strong.
Ponderosa will be fun if Tarzan and Jonas are the first two there. |
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I think it's clear with the edit that either Kim or Troyzan will win. It seems like they've been given screen time every episode even when Colton was dominating the show. And I think that might have the third time they've shown Troyzan say something about this being his island.

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Unpredictable seasons like this tend never to have the Kim or Troyzan type winners. I am thinking we get someone people dismiss as a possible winner like Kat,Jay,Chelsea or Christina. Tarzan,Alicia and Leif are the only 3 I would rule out completely.
|
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Disappointing not to get rid of Alicia, and even worse if she gets back into the women's group. But from the preview
Spoiler:
Bye bye, Colton-and-Alicia-enabler . He seemed like a pretty decent guy, but could have played the game a lot better.

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I love how arbitrary all their decisions are. Not even Jay - the guy who suggested Jonas in the first place - could explain why it made sense to get rid of him over Tarzan. And when Chelsea questioned if that was the smartest move, she ran right into the usual wall of deaf ears. I guess instead of Jonas' fish and coconut filling their pots for the next few days, they have Tarzan's soiled underwear to look forward to instead. That makes sense.

Jonas could have stood up to Colton at any time and the game might be different. Instead, he went out looking even weaker for trying to throw Mike under the bus. And WHY are these women interrupting the men arguing at tribal? Let them pick each other off, ladies. You're out there for 40 days if all goes well, which is enough for two periods. You'll get your chance. Side note: Why was there champagne, crackers and fruit on top of pizza and beer? It seems like they have more food every year and now only have to outplay and outwit. There's no real outlasting if they're always fed. |

1) Girl alliance 2) Strong tribe alliance 3) The intersection of those two, the leaders 4) The "to go" list If she has her way, she will clear out (4), and then the hangers-on in (1) and (2). |

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I agree that previous seasons have been tougher. However, they've had more substantial post-merge feasts, and the rewards are supposed to be rewards. (I was thinking that the ice cream one, while yummy, wasn't the most nutritious reward.)

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I was happy that Tarzan was kept around purely for the amusement factor.
On a related note, I can't believe any rational person would let him anywhere near them with a scalpel. |

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
I confess I've only seen about half the seasons of SURVIVOR, but is it me or does this group have the lowest collective IQs we've seen? What a bunch of nitwits. Even the Doctor is a moron.
I wish they'd stop casting wanna-be actors/actresses and the mentally imbalanced, and just go back to signing up normal people. |

I would have have gotten rid of the guy who washes his shit-stained underwear in our pot, walks around in a disgusting speedo, stirs up constant animosity, and functions as an unpredictable wild card, over the guy who catches all the fish, works hard around camp, and is easy to see coming. It's not like they're in the final stretch and have to start thinking seriously about who to go up against in front of the jury. That's far enough off at this point that actively planning for it is kind of putting the cart before the horse. Jonas wasn't a serious threat to Kim and her group - his only ally was Leif - so that's not a good reason either. I just think it is indicative of their decision-making in general so far (i.e. short-sighted and largely arbitrary). Kim's plan is solid, but it works just as well voting Jonas off next time, or a few votes down the line. Don't get me wrong, I have no particular love for the guy. Like others here have mentioned, karmically speaking, he deserved to get sent home for enabling Colton this whole time.
I think Kim will pick off all the men from the other tribe, all the women from the other tribe, then the men on her tribe, then the girl alliance fights among itself. The only departure from that schedule will be an unfortunate immunity win, and you just go one down the list. |

And I don't think high intelligence necessarily translate into social skills and smart game play. There have been 2 rocket scientists on this show before and they both played the game dumber then the average model recruit. And imo nothing could top the stupid play in Tocantins were Coaches tribe had a 6-3 lead at the merge and they just handed the game on the platter to Stephen and JT or the tribe in Samoa who had an 8-4 merge lead and ended up getting picked off 1 by 1. |
Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Casting actual Rocket Scientists was one of the funniest things ever

Jeff Probst on episode 7 of 'Survivor: One World'
Each week, host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Survivor: One World. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Judging by the fact that the first post-merge reward challenge had people dividing into two teams, I’m guessing that the original plan was to merge them either right after that challenge or right before last night’s immunity challenge, but that you accelerated the merge to Tribal Council once Colton was taken out of the game. Can you share some behind-the-scenes insight as to how you guys adjusted things once Colton was evacuated? JEFF PROBST: When Colton was taken out it meant we had nobody to vote out at Tribal Council. Since the merge was planned for the next morning, we decided to bring them to Tribal Council (putting a bit of fear in them) and merge them that night instead. We just needed something to happen at Tribal so we moved up the merge by about 10 hours. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You’ve had a few classic out-of-context quotes while doing challenge play-by-play, and last night’s “Michael, with balls hanging on both sides of his disc,” was right up there. Do you realize right after you say stuff like that “Oh, that idiot Dalton is going to have a field day with that one,” or are you simply too in the zone to notice until it shows up on TV? JEFF PROBST: Well, at this point I’m fairly aware of the fun opportunities to be had when you have a challenge involving discs and balls! So yes, I’m aware of what I’m saying as I say it! And I’m aware you’ll have fun with it the next morning. It’s one of the things I like about your writing. You never miss an opportunity for anything! I’d have to say though my favorite of the night was “Tarzan’s balls haven’t moved in a long time.” ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Tarzan’s underwear — dirt or poop? What’s your take and what’s the proper underwear washing etiquette here? JEFF PROBST: I wasn’t there so this is just based on the facts that I saw play out on the episode — I’d say poop. In fact I’d bet quite a bit that it was poop. Proper etiquette is to wash them in the friggin’ ocean. I don’t care if the boiled water rids the parasites, it’s the image in my head that is most concerning. Every time I’m drinking water I’ll be thinking…. Tarzan’s poop is in my water. Man, even writing it is disgusting. Doesn’t mean I don’t love Tarzan, cause I do! ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Tease us up for next week, sir! Spoiler:

Re: Survivor: One World -- "The Beauty in a Merge" -- 3/28/12
Wish they would do more on the strategy (though maybe there wasn't much?). It's basically identify the two targets and edit the show toward them. I realize they have to do this some, but it seems like they overly focus on it week to week and it was clear early on Jonas was on the chopping block even before they had talked about it around camp
At least there was a glimpse of strategy with Kim, but the show seems so much more tailored to the fake drama these days than the strategy and survival aspect of the show. |
