Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Directed by Seth Gordon ("Horrible Bosses")

In the second season premiere, Cameron, Cash and Melanie discover that Oz is forced to sell the company to a corporate conglomerate headed by the brash and bold Veronica Mann (Emmy Award winner Megan Mullally, who joins the cast as a series regular), who along with her prickly British assistant Molly, turn the office upside-down in the all-new "The Contra Club" episode of BREAKING IN airing Tuesday, March 6 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (BIN-201) (TV-14 D, L)

13 episode 2nd season

Yup, it's back from the dead. The Christian Slater curse is over. Did all you already delete your season passes from last year?

Some changes though

Megan Mullally is a series regular. Apparently she signed a very rich contract to be the co-lead of this show with Slater.

Odette Annable (Melanie) will not return as a series regular. If you watch House, you should know that Odette is already a regular on that show. She's back for only 4 episodes.

Erin Richards from the UK Being Human is a new series regular. She's technically replacing Odette.

Michael Rosenbaum will not return in season 2.

No Lex, No that-chick-reminds-me-of-Megan-Fox-but-hotter-and-with-not-so-creepy-thumbs.

Other than that, will watch. It was getting pretty funny there before it got the boot.

So I guess this means no more Penny's Mom or Tammy II guest spots anytime soon?

Did anyone else read the headline as "Breaking Bad" and get really excited/confused? My brain was all: "How did I miss that Breaking Bad was coming back so soon!" and then I read the thread and my heart was all: "I hate you brain"

Nah. Happy Endings and Parks and Recreation have different shooting schedules. Besides a one-off guest episode on a 30 minute show takes no time to shoot.

Did he get fired? Rosenbaum deciding to leave Smallville has not done wonders for his career.

This is good news though I have to wonder how FOX plans to cram all 13 episodes in with new episodes of Glee,New Girl and Raising Hope still remaining.

Rosenbaum didn't get fired. He was only a recurring guest star in season 1 with no commitment beyond that. They just chose to not bring him back.

Tuesdays will be 4 comedies until Glee returns in early April. Breaking In is going to have to move to a new timeslot when Glee returns because New Girl and Raising Hope are taking the 9pm hour.

I watched the final episode of the first season and thought it was actually really funny Went back and watched the rest and enjoyed them. Glad it's coming back for at least another season.

I hope the bringing in of Mulallylyly doesn't kill the great chemistry this show already had. I never thought she was funny.

Are you talking about tonight's show? She was in it. Are you referring to her leaving part way through this season?

In the unlikely chance this show gets another season, couldn't she come back since House will be done?

I think I read that Michael Rosenbaum had another (directing?) project that prevented him from coming back.

Was alright. I liked the opening poking fun at coming back for a Second Season and showing "Mr. Fox" around the office.

She killed it for me. Totally unnecessary addition to the chemistry they had in the first season. If she's going to be so front and center in every episode I might just drop this.

Re: Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

season premiere was just ok. A few laughs here and there, but I was bummed that Odette won't be a part of the whole season. I don't like Mullally, so I'm not sure how much I will like this show once Odette is gone.

I'd rather Odette quit House and went back to this show. They dull down her hotness too much on House, whereas Breaking In Utilizes it fully.

Re: Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

I enjoyed the first season, the characters were great. They are messing with season 2 too much though. I don't care that they've made Oz somewhat vulnerable. I can only take mulally in small doses. Too bad michael had prior engagements so he couldnt to be in this but with odette leaving anyways it wouldn't make much sense to keep him around. Also if people didn't hear this will be more of an In Office comedy. I will finish out the season since i'm confident it will be cancelled again but i don't have high hopes that it will match last year.

Edit* Does anyone know what happened to Trevor Moore? I can't find anything that says he was fired or quit.

Re: Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

Seems like they kinda ruined Slater's character, and since Michael Rosenbaum ended up being (much to my surprise) the best thing about season one, this doesn't bode well. Losing Odette on top of all that... yikes.

I'll wait for the 2nd episode to pass judgement - and see if the show comes together.

This episode was a re-introduction show. Let's see if it can hit its stride again

Re: Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

Damn, Odette leaving? She might be the hottest woman alive in my opinion anyway. That blows. Didn't like Rosenbaum, so that's fine, but don't like Mullally as a regular on any show..gets annoying. Thought the premiere was just decent. Whenever I see what's his name I wish The Loop had survived.

Anyone else think this will be another Human Target with Mullally coming in as the new boss.

Well with House ending, they do well enough to earn a season 3, you know Odette will be back full time.

I thought about that too. It's the exact same formula, bring in an abrasive female boss and a somewhat acceptable female sidekick. Given what happened with that show, and how Mullally is infinitely more annoying than Puchi, who thought it would be a good idea? That promo pic reflects everything wrong with Mulally being on this show- she's gaudy well past the point of being humorous and just doesn't fit with the rest.

Re: Breaking In -- Season Premiere -- "The Contra Club" -- 3/06/12

If there's one thing Megan Mullally screams to me, it's "undercover/spy/security work with a clever/subtle personality".

Oh, wait, she's nothing like that. What a weird addition to the show. Not only does she not fit the current cast dynamic, she doesn't even fit the theme.
