This looks like it could be quite entertaining. Pretty big name leads in Paxton and Costner.

I had no clue this was even made until I saw a trailer for it a few nights ago at the theater.

Quote:

Showcasing an all-star cast including Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, this all new six-hour scripted miniseries, HATFIELDS & McCOYS, tells the story of a clash of clans that evoked great passion, vengeance, courage, sacrifice, crimes and accusations, and includes a cast of characters that changed the families and the history of the region forever. The saga begins with Devil Anse Hatfield and Randall McCoy. Close friends and comrades until near the end of the Civil War, they return to their neighboring homes--Hatfield in West Virginia, McCoy just across the Tug River border in Kentucky--to increasing tensions, misunderstandings and resentments that soon explode into all-out warfare between the families. As hostilities grow, friends, neighbors and outside forces join the fight, bringing the two states to the brink of another Civil War. Tom Berenger and Mare Winningham co-star. (2012)

The only reason I knew this was coming soon was because it was one of the major sponsors of the Mayweather/Cotto title fight a few weeks ago.

My family is from KY and my mother said she knew a woman who was a descendant of the McCoys. Apparently the conflict is still ongoing to an extent, but nowhere near the level it reached.

There are posters plastered all over the Times Square subway station. It looks like it may be good.

Really looking forward to this. A friend of mine is related to the McCoys. She also has a descendent who fought in the Alamo. Sure off topic, but pretty cool I think

Saw the trailer for it during the preshow at the theater before Avengers. Seems like a town's-worth of people are in those families. Don't know the story so I'll check it out. Better be something worthy of such a fued and not something stupid like a fence was built a few feet on the other's property.

These are everywhere in the city. History is really pushing this.

There was this little thing called the Civil War that caused a bit of tension in the middle states.

Yeah, if the plot isn't to your liking we'll contact the people who made history and get them to change it for entertainment purposes. ;)

What's the name of the music that plays during the trailer they've been playing in theaters?

"History" channel? I look forward to seeing how they change the plot to include alien abductions and pawn shops.

From what I have found it is "Bartholomew" by The Silent Comedy

Yeah, I've seen this trailer many times in theaters and the first time was surprised to see it was a History production. I don't know much about the Hatfields and McCoys other than they had a feud so I'd be interested in learning more. Maybe I'll record it and watch during the Historical challenge.

I understand what you mean but I find this statement to be less than factual.

Fair call considering that the worst ambush now is when a clan member jumps out of the bushes and farts on a person from the other side of the feud.

Hope the miniseries lives up to the trailers. Great cast.

Love the full-page poster ad on the back of this week's Sports Illustrated. Nice shot of Costner & Paxton.

Yeah, he should've said "ancestor" (ancestor=before, descendant=after) and, given that nearly all of the prisoners from the Texas side were executed, an ancestor who fought in the Alamo would've matched at least one of the following: (a) in the tiny group who didn't get executed, (b) had kids before the battle started, or (c) fought on the Mexican side of the battle.

Or she was the inspiration for The Time Traveler's Wife.
