It's not like consumers are saying "Yes, Michael Andretti says it's a good car, but why didn't he decide on the format for the Q&A?"

I would bet only a handfull of people in that audience knew the Andretti name and even less then that knew who Michael Andretti was.

Glad they got rid of some dead weight. Not glad they got rid of Corolla.

Good point, particularly since Marvel already licensed the Hulk to Dodge just a few years ago.

Say 'em both out loud. They are indistinguishable.

So you think they are gonna penalize him because his last name sounds the same as one their competitor's cars? That doesn't make sense to me.

I'm sure it was a joke, dude. Relax.

Completely agree with this. Carolla and Penn Jillette are easily the best things about the show. I hope Carolla comes back for the final challenge at least.

I still don't understand the judging criteria for this last challenge, and apparently neither did the men's team nor Trump or his kids (at least they wouldn't explain it in any understandable way). I would pay to see the men's presentation, and you couldn't pay me to endure the women's. A very...unusual...result.

I haven't watched the show, but it sounds like the criteria was that Buick thought they were going to get an Andretti endorsement for free.

Carolla pulls through on today's podcast giving some insight into what went on behind the scenes. Very interesting stuff. He talks to Penn as well.

Good listen. This whole season has been bullshit for me so far, and this just confirms it.

Wait, does this ever happen? I want to be completely done with this show now that Adam got fired, but I don't want to miss it if he comes back.

There's always a chance Adam could be back at the end. Once its final 2 they bring back fired people to help the final 2.

Re: The Celebrity Apprentice -- Season 5 Thread -- Sundays (NBC)

It definitely felt like they picked the cast, then tailored the challenges to it. Him not stepping up was just unfathomable. The way Trump came across was that they made that challenge just for Andretti and he was personally offended that he didn't take lead. If he isn't going to step up for the car challenge what the hell is he there for?
This seems to be 100% the case. What's strange/disapointing is the the producers/Trump didn't seem aware of Adam's familiarity and interest in cars. The men unanimously named him project lead in seconds. They saw in him the unity of car knowledge and pitch man. It was a great choice. But the producers/Trump seemed flaberghasted. They're idiots for not recognizing the many facets of the contestants.

I missed the start of the episode but did they show Michael Andretti saying he didn't want to be the project leader, as Adam stated on the podcast?

It was incredibly annoying, listening to the podcast, to keep hearing Adam refer to "Steven Jobs" - when has he ever been called Steven?

When the teams huddled, Andretti immediately brought up Adam's name. So he didn't specifically say no, but he didn't volunteer either - and this was right after Trump told Andretti this was a perfect task for him.

Andretti's reasoning for not taking the PM role didn't even really make sense. Sure, Adam is the better choice to host the presentation. But that doesn't mean the presenter and the PM have to be the same person. The women had Tia up there even though Debbie was PM.

Re: The Celebrity Apprentice -- Season 5 Thread -- Sundays (NBC)

Yeah, I was pointing out they are spelled differently. But anyway, my point was that I didn't believe the judges would penalize the team because someone had a name that sounds the same as one of their competitor's cars. I couldn't tell if the person who originally posted the comment was serious or not. There was no :) in his post, so I took his post as a serious accusation. Sorry that I am so easily annoyed.
