I really don't like the permanent addition of Klaus to the cast. His character throws the whole balance of the dynamic off, though I guess the writers felt they needed a new villain now that Damon's character has been softened up to hang around Elena.

^ That's exactly why I like it. It shakes things up. Something far too many shows are afraid to do.

It mostly comes down to the fact that the guy playing Klaus is a very limited actor. Most of the key moments with Klaus come off as strange and flat.

Pretty meh episode. About 3 too many simultaneous "love" stories going on and not much else. FWIW I always thought Elijah made for a more effective Villain than Klaus. Elijah always seems like hes constantly fighting the urge to kill everyone in sight. Klaus is mischievous and kinda goofy, he wants people to like him.

Agreed, Elijah is a much better character. I'd be fine with them keeping Rebecca and Elijah around, only to kill off Klaus. Knowing the CW though, they love keeping a blonde bad boy around on their shows. Elijah needs to dye his hair if he wants to stay on the show.

This episode was just alright. It was more setup for whatever Mother's ulterior motive is. Assuming she's serious about killing her children.

Nina and Cadace looked great in their period dresses.

I do think it's interesting how Damon has changed from the merciless killer bad boy from season 1 to actually being likeable and noble.

I think the drama could be higher if mom double crosses them all. What of this spell in actuality then links ALL vampires? Essentially anybody Elana still knows would be in danger.

When Klaus saved her life a couple of episodes back was pretty cool. I actually like Klaus and his "Courting" of Caroline. I don't get how Damon was able to kick the original vamp off of matt. I thought the vamps were stronger the older they were? Anyway, good episode. And liking this show.
