American Horror Story S2 Discussion Thread (10/2012) on FX

http://www.movieweb.com/news/america...on-2-promo-art

An intriguing promo poster has hit the internet for Season 2 of American Horror Story, which will debut in October. Back in December, series creator Ryan Murphy revealed that each season will take place in a different house or building, and, if this poster is legit, it seems Season 2 may take place in a haunted hospital...And may even be in 3D? Take a look at this poster below for Season 2 of American Horror Story. If you can find a pair of old red and blue 3D glasses, you might want to dust them off before looking at this poster.
S1 ended as a big fat thud for me, but this promo poster, and the thought of a haunted hospital has me excited.

Can't wait for this to come back. I'm slightly hesitant just because it's essentially going to be a brand new show, but the first season, for me, was amazing so I am looking forward to seeing what else they have to offer.

Funny, what's intriguing to me is the fact that it'll essentially be a brand new show. I wasn't especially a fan of season 1, but the creative team behind this show deserves credit for living up to their name.

Yeah, there is excitement over it somewhat starting from scratch, I just felt like I had a lot of time and emotion invested in the characters from the first season, so it's disappointing probably most of them won't be back.

Here I was going with the haunted hospital setting and Frances Conroy perhaps being one of the doctors, etc....

Loved the premise of a hospital... I hope it's not just haunted house after haunted house.

Zachary Quinto and Jessica Lange are both returning to season 2 of AHS. They are playing new characters.

Can we get Denis O'Hare back too?

Actually, it would be cool if the the supporting and guest actors become the starring actors of the following season.

Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters & Lily Rabe To Return To ‘American Horror Story’

UPDATED: Three more American Horror cast members from Season 1, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe, will return for the series’ second season as regulars. They will join Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto. AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy just made the announcement during the show’s PaleyFest panel. “We don’t want to talk about it too much, we’re still writing, anybody could pop up at any time,” he said. He didn’t want to elaborate on the returning actors’ new characters, saying only that “everyone is playing the opposite of what they played before.” Season 2 of AHS will start shooting in July.

I don't really like the idea of all these returning actors. Sounds like they're getting spoiled by their success, where there's probably a lot of chatter they're hearing asking to bring back familiar faces. Wish they just went with a clean slate.

Happy to see the returning cast members.

Now they just need to get Alexandra Breckenridge back.

Zachary Quinto on yet another show where he should have been relegated to a single season.

I think the idea of returning actors and building up a "stock company" for this show is a lot of fun. Especially if they'll be playing completely different types of roles each time.

Speaking of posters; the PaleyFest 2012 Honors American Horror Story print is on sale for fans of the show. I think they did a great job with this.

Re: American Horror Story S2 Discussion Thread (10/2012) on FX

Ryan Murphy should be allowed to create shows, but give them up after one season...every show he's behind (this one, Glee, Nip/Tuck) starts out great then starts repeating itself after "x" number of shows. I felt like the whole second half of Season one of American Horror Story was just a rehash of stuff we saw in the first half of the season.

It's like the guy comes up with a great idea, but can't think beyond the basic premise.

I don't know how some of you will react to this. Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5 and judge/coach on The Voice, is joining the cast.

I'll withhold judgment on the character or how it ties into the show, but that guy is a douche bag.

Ryan Murphy Reveals Title of New Chapter of American Horror Story

“American Horror Story: Asylum”

‘Asylum’ Stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell, and Joseph Fiennes

LOS ANGELES, August 1, 2012 – Award-winning producer Ryan Murphy today revealed the title of the new chapter of American Horror Story, “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

Set in 1964, American Horror Story: Asylum stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell, and Joseph Fiennes. Principal photography on the new minseries began on July 17 and it premieres on FX in October.

“When we launched the show last year, we kept quiet about the closed-ended nature of the show because we didn’t want to tip off the audience that the characters were not going to survive,” explained co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy. “Now that it has been established that each year is a closed-ended story, the time seemed right to reveal what we’re calling the new installment.

“We picked ‘Asylum’ because it not only describes the setting – an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange’s character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward – but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted. This year’s theme is about sanity and tackling real life horrors.”

The first installment of American Horror Story, which concluded last fall, earned 17 Primetime Emmy® Award nominations, tying for the most of any program this year and setting a record for the most Emmy nominations for a miniseries in basic cable history.

Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto and Tim Minear are Executive Producers of American Horror Story: Asylum. It is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.
