18th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards -1/29/2012

Is no one watching or did I miss a thread?

Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore just appeared and look good.

I am watching. Usually, this is a good predictor of the Academy Award winners for the respective acting categories since many of the same voters for the SAG are voters for the Academy.

No major shocks so far, in my opinion. Shaping up to be probably another boring, predictable Oscar ceremony.

Seems strange to say "And the Actor goes to...". But I never watch these. My kid has taken to watching award shows for the outfits.

I had it on for about forty minutes and just found it boring.

At least it moved along pretty well--it's already over!

Awkward to have the naked statue in every shot.

Even though I haven't seen The Artist yet, I was surprised that Jean Dujardin beat out George Clooney for Best Actor.

He's going to win the Oscar too.

I didn't watch any of it, but did a lot of winners do the pretentious "This means so much because it's from my fellow ACTORS!" shtick?

Just like last year, there are just enough of these ceremonies that you can pretty much predict exactly how The Oscars are going to go.

The one thing I'll give the SAG awards show is that they'll give "equal billing" to some lesser known actors in the "Mermorial" tribute.

MTM looked good?
I didn't see her on this but last week on the Betty White birthday she looked near dead.
She seemed propped up on the stage and they never went in close at all. Wife commented that it was like they did that on purpose so we couldn't see how bad she looked.

She looked good to me. Actually I was first struck by how perky Dick Van Dyke was when introducing her (a little manic, even), then she came on and seemed lucid and standing on her own. Can't find a clip at the moment, though.

About 12:30 in. Might have just been a bad day.

They also didn't show (the TV audience) her walking onto or off of the stage. When they cut to her after DVD's speech, she was already standing there. And they cut to commercial when her speech was done. I don't think she's doing well. Of course, fighting diabetes all your life can take a heavy toll.
