Synopsis:

Spoiler:
"An Embarrassment of Bitches" - When a famous dog trainer is killed, the investigation keeps coming back to charismatic reality TV star Kay Cappuccio (guest star Hilarie Burton, "White Collar", "One Tree Hill"). Kay, a favorite of tabloids and gossip websites the world over, has achieved stardom without possessing any discernible skill or talent. But there seems to be more to her story than she is letting on -- does that include murder? -- on "Castle," MONDAY, JANUARY 23 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Justin Hartley ("Smallville") guest stars as Reggie Starr, Kay's boyfriend, and Nana Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") plays Dr. Patty Barker, an eminent therapist whose talents are called upon when it's discovered that one of her clients witnessed the murder.

Episode 13 of 23

to the guest stars. So this is why Hilarie Burton has been MIA from White Collar.

Kasidy Yates, Worf, and now Kira.

Someone at Castle is a DS9 fan.

I don't watch this show, but I just came in to say that the episode title is the best I've seen in a long time.

Great title ... fun episode, though perhaps too much sympathy for the K.K. clone.

LOL because the KK clone seemed to learn from her experiences so of course we have sympathy for her.

Not a bad episode, the whole touching thing between Castle & Beckett was pretty dumb. Yes, we get it, they love each other, neither wants to make the first move, they are partners, etc...

This was such a different role than Sara on WC, that I double-checked IMDB to be sure it was really her.

And, boy, she was looking smokin' hot!

Also, the preview for next week's episode looks like it will be fun, but I'm wondering what the setup is. Someone dreaming? A story written by Castle?

It looks like next week is a rerun. It appears that was a promo for the following week.

Here's a synopsis that answers your question.
Spoiler:
When Castle and Beckett investigate the killing of a treasure hunter, they discover the case is linked to a mysterious homicide from 1947 involving a hard-boiled private detective. Castle realizes the only way to solve the present-day murder is to solve the murder from the past. The 1947 case comes to life through stylized flashbacks, featuring Castle as the private eye and Beckett as a femme fatale.

Very fun episode.

I liked that the episode was basically mocking the media's fascination with idiot reality stars like the Kardashians.

Hilarie Burton was smoking hot and great playing an idiot. The character and the voice was so different from Sara and Peyton.

Yeah I agree the whole touchy feely thing with Castle and Beckett was kind of eye rolling. They really want to stretch out the whole Moonlighting thing between them.

Yeah, it wasn't until about halfway through the episode that I realized that that was Peyton Sawyer. She was much hotter here than she ever was on OTH. Never watched White Collar before.

Re: Castle -- "An Embarrassment of Bitches" -- 1/23/12

Finally watched this ep and thought it was fun. The KK clone was surprisingly sympathetic towards the end. I was also surprised by all the guest stars. Not only Justin Hartley and Nana Visitor, but Scott Lowell (Ted from Queer as Folk) was the disgruntled dog trainer at the beginning and Robin Sachs (Ethan Rayne from Buffy) was the announcer during the dog show. I had a hard time figuring out which guest star was the killer.
