HDNet to become AXS TV this summer

..... and the new focus will be on wider distribution and more focused on pop culture content.
In other words, the channel will suck like most other general interest pop-culture celebritard channels.
No more unrated content like Art Mann Presents, Get Out!, Deadline!, etc....
A lot of people don't know what HDNet is (was) but at least it was unique compared to other channels.

And yet another reason why I don't have cable. Basic tiers filled with G-rated crap like the Disney Channel and ABC Family that we have to pay for with a small (and ever decreasing amount) of risque programming for adults to enjoy.

Thanks but I'll buy Louie and Curb Your Enthusiasm on disc and avoid having to pay for the iCarly crap.

Re: HDNet to become AXS TV this summer

Op forgot to nclude the most important info.

Ryan Seacrest to rebrand cable channel HDNet
We're starting to wonder what Ryan Seacrest can't do.

The "Idol" host, E! personality and TV producer has announced that he's going to rebrand the cable channel HDNet along with the network's owner, Mark Cuban, the event promotion company A.E.G. and his talent agency, CAA.

The plan is to reshape HDNet, which was originally created in 2001 as the place to find high definition programming, into a network for "music, live entertainment and live events" called "AXS TV," Seacrest told the New York Times.

Pronounced "Access TV," Cuban explained, "We're going to be able to take what I had hoped to do with HDNet - which was to be live, live, live - and accelerate that considerably."

AXS TV is expected to launch this summer.

That's what I read, too, but it also said HDNet Movies wouldn't be airing uncut movies anymore or something to that effect.

The fact that they had to tell you how to pronounce the channel's name in the press release is a bad sign.

Ugh...so it's basically being gentrified down just like the main HDNet channel.

Might as well recycle my reply from earlier:

Meh. Cox dropped this channel last year (no biggie, it was only one of my favorites... ) so I can't get upset.

Re: HDNet to become AXS TV this summer

It looks like Get Out is gone.

Don't see it listed anywhere on the TIVO guide and they usually show it every day.

I hope they will still continue to show concerts.

I will truly miss Get Out Unrated and the lovely Lana Tailor (that's a terrible picture of her BTW; Brooke looks good though). I also watched some of the other Thursday night shows now and then.

I can't imagine watching this new channel. F them.

Re: HDNet to become AXS TV this summer

Pretty much all I watched on HDNET was Inside MMA and sometimes the MMA fights on Friday nights. IMMA is still going to be on and I suspect the MMA fights as well so I'm not affected.

I will also miss Get Out!, but the show was at its best years ago, when Lindsay Clubine was the host.

I watch this channel for the JAG reruns. Those 10 minute commercials are annoying.

She has been tweeting that she still works for them although it sounds like she was moved to other programming.
