did anyone watch ¡Rob!?

I was reading the Fringe thread and thought about this show.

According to EW it had great ratings:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/01/13/ro...eider-ratings/

It had really bad reviews from critics as expected from the commercials. I knew it wasn't my kind of show but decided to give it a chance and yeah, it was total crap. Like take the worst of every sitcom in TV and you have Rob!.

I wonder if it will have the same fate as "@#$@#$ my dad says".

Definitely the best Rob Schneider sitcom that I have seen so far.

Dubious distinction right there.

No, I would rather see Rob Schneider make Deuce Bigelow 3 instead. But liked him in Men Behaving Badly.

Standard sitcom. Man vs In-Laws. There were a few laughs.

Re: did anyone watch ¡Rob!?

The opening scenes with just Rob and his new wife were dreadful. There just wasn't any chemistry there. I can't even blame Rob, because he had chemistry with Cheech, the uncle, the mother-in-law, the kid, the grandma... I think the wife is either miscast or poorly written. I know she's supposed to be the 'straight man' in the mix, but she also needs to be the center that holds this concept together, and I just didn't feel that. She either needs to be feistier, or they need to make her "agreeable with everyone" quality a slightly exaggerated comic trait.

If NBC does cancel Community, CBS could do worse than picking it up to follow BBT. That would be interesting. Based on what they have wasted the post-BBT slot on the past two years, they need the help developing something good.

I thought it was just alright. I did laugh out loud at the scene with the shrine and the "Abuelita". It seems like a really limited premise for a show though - "White guy unfamiliar with Mexican culture."
I like Rob Schneider, so I'll definitely watch again.

CBS doesn't do comedies without laugh tracks or studio audiences. It doesn't fit in to their programming mold.

They've tried it (Worst Week a few years back), but why the hell would CBS pick up a show they've slaughtered for the past 2 years?

I love Community, but the last thing CBS needs on their network is a show that NBC considers too lowly rated to air.

I thought it was ok. Somewhat typical stuff, but there were some laughs. I'll probably keep watching since it's right after Big Bang Theory.

I agree that he didnt have much chemistry with the actress playing his wife though.

Re: did anyone watch ¡Rob!?

The premise is that they can get giant sampling for something like Rob or the other crapburgers they have served up post-BBT. Community is actually a good show that could use that sampling and may be thematically similar enough to hold an audience for more than a couple weeks.

I love Community, but I think it's just too 'weird' to become a ratings hit, regardless of the lead-in.

That's what people said about BBT a few years back.

BBT is standard sitcom fare with some geek/science stuff mixed in. Community is way more offbeat and really goes out of its way to push the conventions of the genre.

Obviously we can only speculate but I personally don't think Community could ever be a network hit regardless of promotion or time slot. Would love to be proved wrong though.

I thought the shrine destruction was pretty funny, altough obvious. His actual assault of the grandmother by grabbing her and covering her mouth was way over the top.

So far, they've covered siestas, Selena (wow, so topical), illegals, and guacamole.

Cheech was easily the best part.
