Impractical Jokers - Thursdays 10PM on truTV

anyone catch it? basically four buddies dare each other to do really stupid stunts. 3 of them talking into the 4ths ear and dictate politically incorrect things for them to say and do in various situations out in public. it's beyond retarded, and at times hit or miss, but some of the jokes are hilarious.

Didn't watch it, and it's not really my style, but I've known about it for a while because I listen to the Tell'em Steve Dave podcast and Brian 'Q' Quinn is one of the hosts. He hasn't really talked about the show itself that much and when he does it's always about dealing with the network, etc and never about the content of the show.

Re: Impractical Jokers - Thursdays 10PM on truTV

Quinn is much funnier on the podcast than this piece of garbage.

This show is garbage. The only people who think this stuff is funny is them. How does this get to filming stage?

Originally I thought I would hate this show, but it had me in tears at least three times.

Anyone else change their tune about this show?

/\ Same here, one of the funnier shows on TV right now.

I expected the usual TruTV crap and haven't watched this but after reading this thread I'll have to check it out.

I thought the commercials made it look really dumb, then I caught an episode...it's hilarious.

Season 2 starts up in a couple of weeks. Surprised more people on here aren't talking about it....good or bad.

I personally love this show. Can't wait for the new season to kick off. I just hope they don't recycle too many jokes.

I love it too.

It's on a cable channel no one knows so doesn't get much talk.

Yeah, I saw it a few times early on and what I didn't like was them.

Went back to it later on and found it to be hilarious.

My gf loves this show. I hope my DVR remembers to record it. Seriously, some of the most awkward, uncomfortable humor I've ever seen.

Season 2 has been GREAT, except for maybe a skit or 2. Didn't catch last night yet. Will catch up tonight or tomorrow.

That must have been the 10:30 ep. It was a rerun. New shows are on at 10.

For anyone interested, Sal did this Reddit where he answered people's questions about the show. He provides some interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits about the show.
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comment...ctical_jokers/

I thought this one was interesting:

Q: Can you explain why on some of the challenges, two of you go head to head as opposed to all four of you being in on the challenge?

salvulcano[S]
Sure. It can be a bunch of reasons. Most likely the "marks", or real people we interact with, refused to be on tv. In that instance you can blur them, but since the show is built around people's reactions, the blur is not ideal. Another reason sometimes is the network didn't ultimately like it. Sometimes we push things further, and it's always a risk we take, bc we are willing to go further than the network sometimes. But we have to maintain a tone to the show, so it's a necessary evil.

Anybody watch Shaq's new show after this last night? Probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

One of their best bits was last week, they were doing pedicures and one of them had to eat
A rib bone while doing a woman's foot. Then he had to drop it in the water and continue the pedi.
He also had to then take it out of the water and eat the rib.

Hysterical. One of their best.

Here's my list of the best jokers:

1. Joe
2. Murr
3. Sal
4. Q

Seeing as 95 percent of the shows on Tru TV are staged, scripted, or complete fiction, I haven't bothered to check it out at all.

It has to be real. What dentist wouldn't let a bunch of comedians come into their office and mess with their patients' mouths?

The best damn dentist in town! Practical joke shows are too risky these days to make, so I'm sure most of the show is completely bogus for entertainment's sake.

I can't believe with all we know about reality shows, people still insist there are such a thing as genuine reality shows.

Is anyone still watching this show? I've been DVR'ing them & watch a few eps every day. It's really fkn funny, reminds me The Jamie Kennedy Experiment from around 10 yrs ago which I also liked. If this show is staged I'd be surprised.

I've been watching the show since there were just six episodes that were run in heavy rotation and now there are over 100. The guys and their camaraderie feels very genuine and I think that is why the show works. I don't think the show is fake in any way, though I'm sure some of the bystanders are aware that something is up and sort of play along.

On the other hand, there's "The Carbonaro Effect", the "Reality/Magic" show that Spike sometimes pairs with "Jokers": I'd like to think this one's "real", but I'm just not buying it.

The show is still ongoing but there will be a change in the coming season.

On New Year’s Day Joe Gatto announced on his Instagram that he has left the show.
Looks like he is getting a divorce and he is in the midst of a months long comedy tour.

I just saw this news today and it’s a blow.
Don’t know that I’ve ever seen 4 guys in comedy that play off each other as well as these guys do.

Im wondering how the show will work with only three guys but I did see that they will be having surprise celebrity guests to fill in.

Ive really grown to love this show after finally giving it a chance.

season 10 starts on April 2nd.

Re: Impractical Jokers - Thursdays 10PM on truTV

Yeah I had seen that too. I believe Joe was the lead editor or at least heavily involved in the process. So it'll likely be a little different production-wise.

Part of me wonders if this is a temporary choice. His divorce sounds pretty messy, I'm thinking this is a strategic move for custody purposes. Freeing up his schedule to get joint custody. Because the amount of time he would be on set shooting would probably be a hindrance to a judge. Maybe once it gets sorted he could rejoin?

I still love the show so this is a bummer.

Re: Impractical Jokers - Thursdays 10PM on truTV

This is really disappointing as I love these guys & their show. Joe is probably my favorite but losing any of them would equally suck. I wonder what's really going on here as I can't imagine Joe would leave the show over a divorce.

He has also been removed from their Troupe The Tenderloins. It’s just the three of them there too.

There are theories out there but it’s mostly speculation and Tin foil hat stuff.
