Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

What a wonderful show. This will be the first Live episode of t he season we have watched. I waited until the first 7 episodes had aired before we started to dig into this new season and just watched episodes 9, 10 and 11 last Thursday and Friday for the first time. Fantastic season all around and glad i didnt have to wait a whole week before those last few episodes.
Cant wait until season 3. I hope HBO does good by this show and we get at least 5 seasons. That seems about right.

Wow, didn't see that ending coming at all. Bravo to them for going down that path and going all the way with it. There are show runners out there that wouldn't have had the balls to end it that way *cough*Kurt Sutter *cough*

WOW!!! Did not expect that at all, even to the point he pulled the trigger. There is going to be hell to pay when Nucky gets home.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

Holy shit -- I did not see that coming. Biggest surprise on TV since they revealed the rat during Season 2 of the Sopranos.

BTW, Van Alden moved to Cicero, Illinois, which is just outside of Chicago and became the home base for Al Capone in the 30s once things got too hot across the city line in Chicago. Something tells me we haven't seen the last of him.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

Having seen enough twist endings, I kept waiting for the swerve. Maybe Nucky is going to turn the gun on the butcher, maybe they were faking the execution, etc. Ballsy, but what's going to happen next season?

I was too far from the TV while Margaret had the deed. Did she sign it over to the church?

Yes she did, and then had it delivered.

I was waiting on the swerve too, figured the butcher or his brother.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

After I finished watching, I had to double check that it had already been renewed for a third season. That episode could have acted as a series finale. Not many shows have the balls to kill off a show lead. I wonder if we will even have a counterpoint to Nucky next year.

Margaret is insane! What is she playing at?

And looks like Jimmy's Mom knew exactly what was happening when he went for the meeting.

Just caught up on the last 4 eps this weekend - great season all around.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

FUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!

To repeat what everyone has said, I did not expect that. I was really hoping he was going to turn the gun on that piece of shit, Eli.

I knew Margaret was going to sign it to the church when she started writing. Dumb ass biatch!

Can't imagine what's going to happen with Richard. You would think they would've (well tried to have) taken him out, as well.

Wow!

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "To the Lost" -- 12/11/11

Thanks for posting that link, Rypro.

For those who are wondering about where Richard goes from here, Terrence Winter addresses that in the interview. I don't entirely agree with what he sees as Richard's reaction, and I hope others who work on the show convince Winter that he's wrong about Richard before Season 3 starts ....

Didn't see that ending coming, but it showed that Nucky does not forgive ANYONE. I wonder if Season 3 will start to focus more on Capone and Luciano as their rise?

Well, we're definitely getting more of the former, given Van Alden's new town of residence (see earlier poster re: Capone's history).

Why would you read the discussion thread for an episode you haven't watched yet? In a thread about any given episode there's no reason to spoilerize anything pertaining to the episode after it's aired.

Its a good interview, as he is alot more open about the show then David Chase was. David Chase almost had content for his audience, as he would leave so many storylines open and never give any commentary on anything happening leaving it up to the viewer. Winter gives some good insight on this season and future seasons.

Notch me up for a "didn't see that coming". I figured Richard would save him.

Man, that's 2 shows that completely blindsided me in the last year (other was Game of Thrones).
