We're back, after a week off!
A couple weeks in, I figured Ty-lor was living up to his last name and didn't have much time left. I was changing my tune after the quickfire, but then he has to blow the next one.
Not nice of Padma to linger on "Chris...." and let them twist in the wind a little longer.

Yeah, that was a little off character for Padma, I've always liked how they don't do the corny fake out announcements. Seemed obvious that Chris would be going home when they showed his horrible "art" collection.

It was obvious Malibu was going home as soon as they announced that the salt made the meat inedible. "Inedible" is the kiss of death on TC.

Yeah, and even he was saying it was too salty. Not sure how he thought just hacking the ends off was going to help.

Probably due to the price. I checked it out on Amazon when the show was on and it's over $400 for the set.

"Wow these Toyota trucks are like a cathedral on the inside. And plenty of power to boot. Who would have guessed you could get this much truck for such a reasonable price. And Don't get me started on the 10 year warranty".
You could probably make a decent drinking game by spotting all of the product placement in an episode of Top Chef

I have it.
Considering it's 5 volumes (the sixth volume is a quick-reference guide), it breaks down to about $80 a book, which is average for a high quality cook book. However, not all of it is worth purchasing. The first 4 volumes cover ingredients, preparation techniques, and utensils. There's very little new information here for experienced cooks and chefs, and to amateur chefs the only new thing is probably the molecular gastronomy stuff, of which there are other books out there that will cover just as well. The last volume is the only one worth owning, as it is chock full of recipes, but they're all incredibly advanced - and they do incorporate modernist techniques. So you'll need a well-stocked kitchen and access to high quality meat and produce to take full advantage of it.
The pictures are beautiful though, with insanely detailed cutaways of the cooking process. However, there's very little "meat" when it comes to information in the first 4 books. It's mostly porn for chefs.

It seemed like his was far too simple to even be in the top 3. I've had Miracle Berry before and yes, it does work, but it takes absolutely no skill to tell someone to eat a pill then chew on a lemon. I realize the lemon was just to get in the Miracle Berry frame of mind, but it didn't seem like a good dish.
He should have demanded to go first though and screw over all the other chefs since Padma would have a Miracle Berry messed up palate

Do bigger white girls always hate petite Asian girls?
Didn't mind seeing Ty go, but it really seems like Chris should have been shown the door again.

I can only stand to watch the dish presentations and maybe, judges table. Their personalities are so grating that I cannot stand hearing any of them talk.
I thought after Season 2 they learned their lesson when it came to over-the-top personalities that drive viewers away.

I think Heather and Sarah might have had some friendship beforehand. After the shrimp incident, it seemed like Sarah was the only one to have Heather's back and snidely attack Beverly during one of the stew rooms. And then when Heather went, I believe Sarah made some comment.
Although I kind of felt Lindsey was being more of a bitch towards Bev.

the height of last night's humor was when Sarah said that Lindsey should have won, completely oblivious to the fact that had the girls lost, Lindsey was clearly the one going home.
I like Grayson more and more, she's goofy and cute, can cook, and won't deal with the stupid bullshit.
