Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Ep 101 'Listen' Mayor Tom Kane has just discovered he has a serious medical condition, but must focus on the upcoming gubernatorial primary while attempting to reconcile with his distant wife and estranged daughter. USA - 2011 - TVMA

8 episode 1st season

Starz already renewed this for a 10 episode 2nd season before this has even aired.

Series Synopsis:

Mayor Tom Kane (Kelsey Grammer) sits like a spider at the center of Chicago’s web of power; a web built on a covenant with the people. They want to be led, they want disputes settled, jobs dispensed, and loyalties rewarded. If he achieves through deception and troubling morality, so be it. As long as he gets the job done, they look the other way.

Yet despite being the most effective mayor in recent history, a degenerative brain disorder is ripping everything away from him. He can’t trust his memory, his closest allies, or even himself.

Kane’s wife Meredith (Connie Nielsen) knows nothing. Theirs is a marriage of convenience. Kitty O’Neil (Kathleen Robertson), Kane’s advisor, has her suspicions but stays silent. And Kane’s political advisor Ezra Stone (Martin Donovan), a Yale graduate with a rough edge, remains questionless.

Only Emma (Hannah Ware), Kane’s estranged daughter, has a chance of learning his secret. This is going to be the toughest term yet for the Boss.

Starring: Kelsey Grammer, Connie Nielsen, Kathleen Robertson, Hannah Ware, Jeff Hephner, Martin Donovan, Francis Guinan, Rotimi Akinosho, Troy Garity
Anyone going to check this out? I just got Starz a few days ago through some special offer on Directv. I heard this has gotten some good critical buzz.

I'll be checking it out live in a little while. With The Chicago Code gone, I'm hoping this will be a good political drama to fill its place.

Agree 100%. The scene where he went off on the alderman was fantastic.

Really enjoyed it, the hour flew by.

This show does a great job capturing Chicago, much better than The Chicago Code

Just watched it. Grammer was fantastic. I was really looking forward to this one, and it didn't let me down. Can't wait to see everything unfold.

Forgot this was on. I'm going to have to try and find a replay or see if it's On Demand as I've been looking forward to it.

I have it queued on the DVR. I wonder if this will fill the void of The Chicago Fans out there (i.e., corrupt Chicago politics).

This was excellent. If this is still sitting in your DVR, watch it ASAP.

Kelsey Grammer was fucking amazing as Kane. He has such a dynamic presence in every scene he was in.

I loved the scene where Kane lost it and grabbed that constituent by the ear and kept screaming at him.

Surprised to see the Pilot was directed by Gus Van Sant. I liked how he shot the sex scene with Kitty and Ben.

I like how Kane's got alot of issues. The opening scene was great to show He's apparently dying, he's estranged from his wife and has a drug addict daughter who's also a Priest?

Frances Guinan was also awesome as the Governor.

One question I have is why did that guy have his Goons cut off Moco's ears?

That wasn't a constituent, it was an alderman (another name for city council member)

I believe he cut the ears off because Kane went on about the alderman's people not listening. That was done a message to Kane that he understands.

Gotcha. Thanks and I see you did mention it in your post that he was an Alderman.
