Terriers with honorable mentions going out to Wonderfalls, Firefly, Eyes, and Miracles.

Jake 2.0 is another favorite of mine, but I don't think it gets by the rules because there were scripted but unproduced episodes.

I also thought Jack & Bobby wasn't bad.

Final addition: I so loved Lucky. I mourn that it didn't get produced just a little later during the poker boom because it surely would have then taken off. It would have been a killer companion for early It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I forgot to throw out an honorable mention to Lucky Louie. I have no idea why HBO cancelled it, it couldn't have cost more than $1.98 per episode to produce.

Good call for an unheralded series. I will say the definitive answer for this question is Heroes. Everyone knows about the incredible first season, but few know that Pod people replaced all the writers after it. So the original vision had one season...at least in my mind.
