Dina Meyer? Not even a little bit. She could look like Melora a little if you mean Melora if she was 20 years younger.

Yeah, my wife and I dropped out after 45 mins. The future stuff was somewhat interesting, but once they jumped to Terra Nova, it just fell apart for us.

I would love to see a show that had the guts to introduce a totally annoying teenaged character in the pilot, and then kill him.

Ugh.

That mostly sucked. The dino parts were cool.

Where the hell did they dreg up the son from? Send him back to the corner in Hollywood where he hooks.

watching now. I had to laugh "your eyes won't be accustomed to the bright sun light"
so why didn't they get sunglasses before going through?
ok, resources were scarce, but that scarce?

I laughed there too. Not long after they say that the dad is flat on the ground staring right up into the sky and he doesn't even have "just came out of the theater in the middle of the afternoon" look

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

I don't really know what the show was trying to say or what the show will be about that holds my attention every week.
A troublesome teen that doesn't like his Dad? A lot of stock characters you don't really care about.
Dumb ones that do things that don't make sense just so there will danger and a chase scene.
This show has really predictable writing that stinks of the Brannon Braga. A mish mash of things that don't really add up.
I predict this to be a bomb of Supertrain proportions.

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

Alright, I watched it on Hulu Plus tonight (since I forgot to set my DVR) and while the episodes had alot of issues, I was entertained.

Loved the future segment from 2149. The score was great and there was alot of tension. In a way it almost felt like Minority Report with a little bit of Blade Runner mixed.

I did have an issue when Jim "escaped" from prison. His wife gives him a laser and then all of the sudden, they jump forward to him sitting on the sky train trying to yank out some tracking device. They whole sequence felt incomplete.

I really liked Stephen Lang as Taylor. Pretty badass, but not as psychotic as the character he played on Avatar. I think Jim and Elizabeth are likeable, but not perfect lead adult characters. Alan Sepinwall wrote in his review that in the original Pilot he saw, their marriage was in trouble. I think I would have rather seen that portrayed instead of the happy family.

Once they got to Terra Nova, I think it was a little bit of a mixed bag, but not as horrible as some of you said it was. The special effects were amazing. For such an ambitious project, they did a great job creating this new world. I do understand that focusing alot of the conflict in hour 2 on the stupidity of Josh and his group of friends was very annoying.

And I thought the dinosaurs looked great. The Slasher tail and the Carnosaurus were awesome. I thought the scene where the kids were trapped with the Sixer and the Slasher Tails surrounding was very suspenseful.

Not perfect, but I'm in for the long haul. I would give these 2 hours a B-

For the material he was given, I thought Alex Graves did a great job. I'm looking forward to seeing Jon Cassar's episodes and what he brings to this genre since he is mainly known for working on 24.

For those of you who haven't thrown in the towel. Check out Jon Cassar's Twitter feed. He's the lead director of the show as of episode 3 next week. He posts alot of interesting material/photos from the set of the show in Australia. As I said earlier and Cassar mentions it in his feed, they are currently in production on episode 13 (season finale), which he is directing.

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was ok. I'll keep watching and hope the story becomes a bit more complex and cerebral.

You mean like 20 million years in their future? Wow, you really plan ahead!

plus, it's an alternate timeline... so maybe that doesn't happen at all... or maybe it happens, uh, tomorrow. Regardless, it was clear that future humanity was on its last legs, so anything is considered to be an upgrade.

Yeah, and this is why I [SARCASM]most truly and completely love love love[/SARCASM] time travel stories. If they're in the same timeline, the slightest thing they do in the past (let alone set up huge colonies and machine-gun a bunch of dinos) will change the future. But if they change the future, they probably wouldn't have come back to the past. But if they didn't come back to the past, then they could never have changed the future so they did come back to the past. But if they came back to the past...got a headache yet?

Unless of course they use the extinction event of 65 million years ago as a "reset" for everything they did in the past so they never affected the future? Maybe that's the reason they went back in time to a pre-extinction event time? And if so, lame lame lame.

[Edit] Just wanted to add that I agree completely with the two main points of this thread that, 1. The son has to die. Now.; and 2. A series based on that future Earth would have been much more interesting.

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

I think I got it. This is where Peter went. We just haven't seen him yet. He created the portal to their other world, like on Fringe. Except here the other world is 'slightly' behind in time. He could be on both shows, what a concept.

Actually the wife dropped the show after the first few minutes. I watched all of it. Tosha being attacked but not killed by the Slashers was totally unbelievable. Unless it wasn't Slashers that got to her but something less lethal. That part was left in the air pretty much. As to going out to the falls to drink their hooch, are we to believe that alcohol is not allowed in TN? If so there goes the Paradise angle and maybe that's the real reason the 6ers broke away.

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

it was pretty good but not the wow i was expecting

I didn't see the 20 million spent on this pilot episode

Totaly agree about the teen son. I not only want to see him killed, but raped by a baby dino

Hating on your dead for trying to fight the people who were about to take away your baby sister, yeah right

Id like to see the head guy have a sexual relationship with the cool teen girl (the one who took charge). That would give the show some edge

So many examples of the stupid writing on this show, so dumb.

Teenage troublemaker girl talking to her guardian ne'er the end when she says she doesn't want him to be disappointed in her, you mean like when you climb through the fence and almost get you and your friends eaten by slashers. Stupid.

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

Overall, I really enjoyed this show. We split it over two nights and the first half was WAY slower than the second. After the first night I wasn't sure what I thought about it, but the second half started out with a bang. I think they had me hooked when the dinosaur ran through the path of the moving jeep and snatched a guy out of it by the mouth. It got more intense from there.

If you only watched some of the first half, I'd encourage you to give the show a shot again. There was just way too much setup to keep the pacing going, but it got much better, I thought.

Re: Terra Nova -- 2 Hour Series Premiere -- "Genesis" -- 9/26/11

I liked it. It's not perfect, and despite how good it might get, it'll never get renewed, so it's another exercise in futility, but I'll watch it anyhow.

I thought the son, while annoying, wasn't 10% of the douche Tyler from V was. I was pleasantly surprised how he was accepted into the teen culture so easily, instead of some alpha-male asshole feeling his dominance threatened. "Stay away from my girl!" and nonsense like that.

I liked Taylor as well. He's a take charge, take no shit kind of guy, but he seems to be level headed compared and at least somewhat compassionate to the walking stereotype he played in Avatar. His son is missing, but he's coping instead of constantly taking it out on others.

Also, as a few people have mentioned Falling Skys, I'm overjoyed there's no character like Pope. Yet.

My only question is, why do the Sixers have to look like rejects from the Thunderdome?
