Not to mention that he knows Walt is a smart chemist and would be fully capable of knowing how or figuring out how to cook meth. He seems like too smart of a character to not think that maybe there's more to Walt than meets the surface and put pieces together. I could be wrong but I wonder if something will come up between them soon.

EXACTLY. Hank is a darn good detective, and I think it's extremely likely something is starting to gnaw at him, especially with Walt's nervousness, weird questions, skittish behavior, and now the crash. It can't be long before he starts to add 2+2...

Hank has always considered Walt to be "book smart" only. He ripped on him calling him Kojack & Mr. Magoo. He's never considered Walt outside of that zone and I think it would take a pretty big slip up for him to do so now. For Hank it will be one of those hindsight is 20-20 and all the signs were there moments if/when he ever finds out of Walt's involvement.

They probably just stood there for awhile. If you rewatch the scene, it's hard to make out if mouths are even moving. Great shot they captured there...

Pure speculation on my part but I spoilerized it anyways.
Spoiler:
I remember reading at the start of this season in an interview with Bryan Cranston I believe that Walt does something irredeemable by the end of the season. I almost wonder if somehow Hank will find out his involvement and Walt will kill Hank (possibly via the ricin).

I would put a stop payment on that IRS Check.

I'm curious if Walt will put his family first and do something to Jesse. We know that Walt was out of action for just a few days in the hospital and production had to go on. If Walt takes Jesse down, what's Gus' next move?

Seeing how Saul's "associates" have left the house, he's either dead or paralyzed, and neither of those things will make a stop payment very easy.

The doctor told gus to drink a lot of water. Maybe Jesse poisoned him with a water bottle during their long walk back, after Gus told Jesse that Walt needed to go......

That could be dangerous though. What if Gus offered the bottle to Jesse?

I don't think they are going to let a major thing like that occur off-screen.

Unless it appears in a flashback later.

If Hank is under super security now, why doesn't Walt just take the family there for protection while he sorts out a better long term solution? He just say he was afraid the bad guys might have seen him driving Hank around near the facilities and feared retaliation.

I was under the impression Walt had Millions in that crawl space, didn't think the 617k would do him in...

they spend a ton of money on the carwash, though.

The car wash, Walt's medical bills, Hank's medical bills, Walt Jr.'s two cars, living expenses, Skyler giving Ted the money to pay off the IRS, plus payments on his apartment and I assume mortgage payments on the home as well. I don't know how much he had but he's probably used a lot of it by now.

Gus and Walt agreed to a $1 million per month contract when they first started working together.

And even then, what was the number Walt said he makes earlier in the season? 17.5 million a year?

Mike86 09-27-11 01:19 PM

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Crawl Space" -- 9/25/11

I don't think he's been working for him that long yet though. Plus I'm sure the medical bills alone are eating a good chunk. The car wash and the money given to Ted was about $1.4 million roughly.

While we're keeping a tally, how much did Walt have to pay for the gun without the serial number earlier this season?

Also food expenses...we saw him waste a whole family meal by throwing a pizza on the roof. :)

What are the chances we'll see Badger and Skinny Pete before the end of the season? I miss those guys.

Re: Breaking Bad -- "Crawl Space" -- 9/25/11

skymirror on reddit has a post about the money that seems to make sense-
http://www.reddit.com/r/breakingbad/...w/money_count/

He split the $3 million deal with Jesse -- $1.5 million each. The deal was changed in "Kafkaesque" to $15 million for the year, open-ended, and that was was also split with Jesse -- $7.5 million each, minus expenses. Walt brings in $274,000 every two weeks (Walt tells Skyler this in "Problem Dog").

Walt only worked for Gus in the superlab for about two months, I think, or maybe two months and one week or two weeks. I'm working with this timeline, plus Jesse's "A couple of weeks back, I killed a dog" statement in "Problem Dog," and I'm only guessing how much time passed between "Problem Dog" and "Crawl Space," so someone correct me if they have a better estimate. BB's timeline can be hard to keep straight. Let's say he completed at least eight or ten weeks of work. That works out to $1.096 million or $1.37 million. Add that to the approximately $500,000 Walt still had from the initial thirty-eight pound/$1.2 million deal with Gus (he had to give Saul a cut, and he split the money with Jesse -- Jane tried to blackmail Walt, Walt delivered Jesse's half of the money, Jane died, Saul held the money for Jesse while he was in rehab, and when Jesse left rehab he used $400,000 to buy his aunt's renovated house from under his parents), and you have about $1.596 million or $1.87 million.

Let's suppose that he made at least $2 million. The $800,000 car wash ate up a good chunk of that. Ted's $617,000 ate up quite a bit too. Together that's $1.417 million. Then we have Jr.'s Challenger, paying for the destruction of the Challenger, Walt's condo, the .38 snub with the serial numbers filed off, Jr.'s PT Cruiser, Walt's medical bills, Hank's rehab bills, paying Saul to perform various jobs, etc.

But that would involve Gus falling for virtually the same trap that he set up the previous day.
