I wouldn't use Mad Men as a reference as I'm sure they uglied her up for the role. But outside of that, she can look a little weird in some things - but she does look sorta cute in other things (Get Him to the Greek for example).

If she were just a nobody walking down the street, most would think she's average at best and wouldn't really pay attention. But since she's an actress, there's a lot more focus on her looks and she's being judged tougher.

It doesn't help that she's on the same show as January Jones and Christina Hendricks, both of whom are considered very attractive. Moss looks fine but she's in a profession where people expect everyone to be perfect knockouts. Anything less than that is considered ugly, even if it's not true.
