Series pick-up. Hour-long project.

Logline: The series centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski) and their boss (Sam Waterston). Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements.

Nice cast but i have no desire to watch anything from Sorkin. His shows are always overly preachy and whiny.

Just waiting for a breakout role from Alison Pill. I like Sorkin's work alot .. this has potential. It could also be that Sorkin writes a couple of early scripts and then hands the show off to someone else. I thought he ended his affair with TV.

I just may have to start getting HBO.

HBO might be a good fit for him, as opposed to network TV. Fewer eps per season, plus I think all scripts are usually done before any filming starts.

That was my thought too. The only Sorkin show I really ever cared for was West Wing. The style and dialogue just seemed to work in that setting. But maybe with cable news being so political in nature, this could be a good fit (assuming it's a MSNBC-type network they are emulating, given Sorkin's politics).
