And yeah, those were some pretty gross strippers. The consultant kept telling them to smile, and once I saw their teeth, it was like, go back to not smiling.

There was no showmanship either. The strippers would just walk on stage from inside the room and take off their tops. No coming out from back stage, no costumes that they'd slowly take off, etc. Even without Rob V's reveal of how it's in a horrible location, I can't imagine this place lasting much longer.

That dancer "Sweetie" wouldn't need a whole lot of makeup to be a 'walker' on Walking Dead.

For the second time, Taffer left without rescuing the bar.

Man, what a douchebag that owner was. And he wouldn't know punk rock if it bit him on the ass. Would love to see this guy's music collection. Bet there's a ton of Pennywise in there.

Honestly... if you have to say "punk rock" that much, you aren't punk rock.

He also kept referring to people as "kooks", which is definitely a surfer term. Nothing against surfers, but just shows what a phony "punk rocker" he is. Unless he's a fan of the Surf Punks, but I highly doubt it.

The episode this Sunday has a family member of mine in it as a waitress so it'll be my first time watching the show.

Shitty Comcast cable in Nashville, TN no longer carries this show in the "package" I pay about $100.00 per month for. Luckily, I can catch up when I visit my dad.

So, I went to my first rescued bar from the show. The Karman Bar, in Laguna Niguel. I went for Punk Rock Karaoke (which I highly recommend, if they come to your town). I didn't know it was featured on the show, because the name and ownership was different (on the show it was called Rocks, and rebranded as Power Plant). But the generic and personality-free fixtures seemed familiar, plus it had the infamous "butt-funnel". When I went home I learned it was indeed a Rescued bar.

As luck would have it, Spike re-ran the episode yesterday. It was plagued by a biker gang that constituted most of the regulars. Taffer ran out the gang, and convinced the owner to go nightclub-only (instead of opening at 11AM for but a handful of customers). He turned it into a full-on disco with lights and lasers and shit. The new incarnation of the bar is actually closer to the "before" version from the show, minus the bikers and definitely a lot cleaner. In an odd twist though, it kind of has a dual concept; during the day it seems to be more of a sports bar, and at night they have punk or metal bands play. Honestly, that seems more effective than what Taffer did. Sports bars don't keep clientele much after early evening, and nightclubs only attract people after 10. These new owners figured out a way to appeal to both crowds.

So yeah, sometimes I think Taffer overreaches. With this bar, had he just had the place cleaned and renovated a bit, and appealed to multiple groups, that's all that was needed. Not a full rebranding and new concept like what he did.

I agree. I've been to two BR bars. The first was a place called Jacks Fire Department in Sunnyside, Queens. I didn't know it was a Bar Rescue bar when we went but we kept pointing out how they way overdid it with the Fire Department theme. The entire place seemed "dressed up" like a Fireman bar instead of actually feeling like one.

The other one I went to was the place on Bourbon St. When I went, the place was completely dead. My friend got a haircut and got some boobs in his face and then we left. There was no one there and I thought the place had fallen apart again. But one of the recap episodes shows that it's actually thriving, which is good to hear. We must have gone on an off night.

Our new TV/Internet/phone provider doesn't offer Spike (yet). I don't miss this increasingly overblown show, but I do miss Ink Master. I don't know if the new season has started yet.

I don't know if anyone is still watching, but Taffer rescued a strip club in Vegas this week.

Maaaaan.

The place had a 50+ yo stripper who was also the manager.

^Exactly. And the swaggering was a reference to how he always swaggers into a bar at the beginning as if he's Mr. Big. Like Gordon Ramsey, the fame has gone to Taffer's head.

Thought this recent episode was one of the dumbest Taffer projects; He did a "speakeasy" concept, where the bar looked like a laundromat from the outside. Problem? It totally looked like a friggin' laundromat!! You had no idea it was actually a bar.

Now, the owner was pretty bad, I doubt it would have been salvageable no matter what concept he went with, but Taffer didn't do him any favors. The bartender Trina was awfully easy on the eyes though...

This is the seventh season, but some seasons have like 40+ episodes. It’s been airing for going on 9 years.
