Much better than last week's episode except Esther and Rex are still worthless. I was actually rooting for the psycho douchbag throughout their whole ordeal.
Loved Gwen blwoing up the facility. She looked so damned hot during her "hero" moment. Though I was expecting the cliffhanger, it still got to me on an emotional level. Mainly because Jack, Gwen, and Rhys are the only characters I feel anything for.
Weird that Bill Pullman and Lauren Ambrose didn't even cameo in this. However, I didn't notice until the episode was over so I can't say I actually missed them.
Ernie Hudson was, sadly, wasted in this. I was hoping for more from him.
Next week looks to be a nice flashback episode that's mostly Jack-centric.

Don't be so hard on Rex and Esther. They're trying their best!
Ernie Hudson was a good reluctant Deep Throat. Make of that what you will.
Gwen and Jack were both fantastic in this. Jack's ploy to get Ernie Hudson to talk was great, and Gwen was in pure kick ass mode.
Oh, and have I mentioned this week that I am utterly totally and completely in love with Eve Myles?

I'm watching it. Just haven't gotten to this yet.
One of the main issues is that not everyone here has Starz. If they aren't watching this show through alternative means, most people here watch Starz shows on Netflix and this won't be posted on Netflix for 2 more months.

The last two episodes have been good. It hasn't really been the most thrilling story. I expected so much more action. Gwen kicking ass in this ep was great. I'm not totally buying the publics lack of interest in current events. With such a scary, bizarre event such as the end of the death, I'd imagine more of a reaction from the populace. In fact, I would think there would be a good percentage of folks who would relish the end of death. Others who would be afraid to leave the house and getting permanently injured. Just seeing people blindly working in those camps and only our heroes giving off any sense of concern just isn't ringing with me.

No, I'm watching as well. Because it airs on Friday it's not at the top of my things to do for the weekend.
I was going to say this episode was better, but I fast forwarded through parts of it. Everything was so cliche. The only good parts were Ester realizing it's not all glamorous to be a field agent, and Jack's ploy to talk with the medical CFO.
If it was clear before, it is now crystal that they didn't have 10 episodes worth of story. Sadly, this series is turning out to be worse than S1, and unfortunately I feel that is saying a lot in and of itself. The pacing is slow, and the story is uninteresting. They had a great idea up front, but the execution has fell flat. With an increased budget, I'm not seeing much of it used. Some B list actors and a few explosions.
I did not miss Oswald or Jilly at all this episode. If anything, I enjoyed the perspective of the CFO and his contact in Asia which ended in a 45 Club moment. However, the camp administrator and his lackey military boy continued to grate. I know I've seen the military aid in something before, and he really is a bad actor. It's a shock he was even cast in this. That's not even mentioning that the entire plot thread should have been dropped. Why could Dr. Juarez have discovered the burning process and played along with it and then left? It would have been a good acting scene for the actress; we would have been spared a cliche plot device spread over 2 episodes; and Gwen wouldn't have needed to go off to Whales on a fools errand to discover the exact same thing.
While I'm glad there was a cliffhanger at the end of the episode, I can't say I'm pleased with it. Throughout the "let's stay in secret", Gwen was once again on her cell phone and then decides to take a public call at a phone in the airport. -eyeroll- I hope the next 3 episodes are just stellar, but I doubt they will be. Here's hoping for a S5 of Torchwood that can get back to what made the end of S2 and S3 so great. That or get some new producers and writers in.

I am watching and though it is too long and a lot of filler, I am enjoying the characters.
I just hope there is a big reveal as to who is behind all of this. I hope it is not just the evil Pharmaceutical company.
Not nearly as good as last season but it's great to see Jack and Gwen again.

For those of you watching in the UK, the next episode (the one that airs tonight in the US) is the one that features the Jack sex scene that the BBC chose not to cut (because it's apparently integral to the plot). Just thought I'd share since UK fans were apparently pissed the last sex scene was cut by the BBC.

I can't say I care at all about sex scenes in Torchwood. It's not an integral part of the show. Sexiness, yes. Sex? No.

The questionable news is that Jane Espenson wrote it. However, I'm trying to sort through and figure out where my negative reaction to female Buffy writers is coming from. I thought I got her mixed up with Marti Noxon, but then I saw Marti actually wrote a lot of my favorite Buffy episodes. I think it might simply related to both Jane and Marti's increased involvement as producers later in the series, which equated to the decline in quality. However, I think on reflection that might best be reserved to Joss' decisions.
Regardless, the good news is I've heard great things about tonight's episode. After the lackluster slump this year I'm hoping the back handful of episodes really picks up. The numbers are down in the UK as well, so if things don't get better I'm afraid what this could mean for the future of Torchwood, even if it is only a BBC product.

I hope it gets better. They could've chopped out about 50% of what they've shown so far. Many scenes were just useless stuff like "Look, it's Gwen in LOS ANGELES!! Doesn't her pale English skin contrast to the girls in bikinis? ARE YOU NOT AMUSED??".
