Not so much a couple of episodes but the murder B-storyline in Friday Night Lights was a bizarre idea and painful to watch.

In a similar vein, the B-stories in most seasons of 24. The main stories were so well done and the B's were so weak.

I can't even remember B stories in 24. Didn't they all tie together? I never re watched episodes but I just remember like 5 different stories and/or red herrings throughout the season but somehow each one would tie into the main storyline and resolve itself. Except for season 1 and the stupid amnesia thing. Wasn't it also season 1 when Kim got kidnapped by that survivalist guy? That's all I can remember. Even Behrooz tied into the main story.

The one-two-three punch of "Black Market", "Scar", and "Sacrifice" played a pretty significant role in me giving up on BSG after season two.

LOL, just watched "Expose" earlier today, since my wife and I are going through Lost again. I didn't really dislike it all that much. In fact, the only episode I really hated this 2nd time through (so far) was "The Other 48 Days". God, was that episode glacially paced and dull.

I agree. Felt like they were trying to go somewhere with this storyline, but it was pretty pointless.

Black Market was pretty bad if only because it was a weak excuse to get rid of the only interesting character remaining from the Pegasus.

I'm rewatching BSG, and almost skipped Hero. It was better than I remembered it. Still not exactly a classic. I didn't think Downloaded was all that bad.

After watching it again, I'd add Unfinished Business to the list. A lot of crap just to establish a Lee-Kara-Sam triangle.

You know a series was pretty good when "Black Market" was considered the worst show in it's run. I agree but it's also a perfectly well made episode, just very conventional and uneven compared to other Galactica fare.

One I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet was the 2nd season of TNG capper, "Shades of Grey". As I understand it, they had basically run out of money and were forced to do a clip show so it was mostly just Riker laying comatose on a table while scenes from previous episodes were played to satisfy the episode's "plot".

And even though it wasn't exactly ER, how can any of us forget that Happy Days episode where Fonzie jumps over the shark

The Fly episode of Breaking Bad was terrible - not because it was slow but because it felt utterly pointless and the entire "Walt vs the Fly" aspect was downright tedious to watch.

Clip shows, even thinly disguised ones, probably are too easy to include for this question. You could count the one or two Lost did every season to try to refresh people on what happened before the two-month break.

On X-Files, First Person Shooter, Fight Club and all things are episodes I never want to see again. Especially the last one, with the pretentious all lower-case title, where they let Gillian Anderson run off and do something about lesbians, feng shui, buddhism, and bangin' old dudes, that had nothing to do with the X-Files universe

The Walking Dead seemed to run hot & cold this way. Especially true on repeat viewing. I agree that Babylon 5 had a few real stinkers in an otherwise amazing show. I still can't watch that animated episode on Farscape again... that just sucked.

First Person Shooter gets a pass for:

Spoiler:

but yeah, other than that pretty fucking cheesy. Then again what show isn't when dealing with video games?

That's kind of sad to think The Walking Dead has 1 or 2 terrible episodes considering it's only run 6 so far

Yeah... oddly enough I still love it as a whole since the first season is basically 1 giant episode. But, when broken down bit-by-bit there were a couple stinkers (or at least compared to the great episodes). The worst of this show is still better then most of what is on TV... I was just let down when I saw the finale.

That was season 2, also known as the cougar season.

Re: Awesome shows with 1 or 2 terrible episodes?

The Arrested Development episodes centered around the Rita (Charleze Theron) storyline. Not that they're terrible episodes, because there's still plenty of laughs. I just always found that the story arc was kind of cruel, that the overall punchline was that she was mentally handicapped.
