John Sandford's Certain Prey TV Movie
Not sure how I missed this, but apparently Mark Harmon signed on to play Lucas Davenport for USA Network's "Certain Prey" TV Movie. If it's successful, USA also holds the rights to the other Davenport centered novels as well so we could see further additions (not unlike CBS's "Jesse Stone" series with Tom Selleck).
It's set for airing sometime in 2011 or 2012.
Here's the link on the story:
http://www.imdb.com/news/ni8231384/
and the IMDb page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1864461/
Plot Synopsis:
Minneapolis Deputy Police Chief, Lucas Davenport, has to face off against a duo unlike any he's ever encountered; a lethal hit woman and a ferociously cunning killer determined to hunt him down.
I have to say, as a general fan of the novels, I can't quite see Harmon in the role. I kind of like Rufus Sewell for the part as he seems to fit the description. Anyway, will hold a wait and see attitude with this.

I see someone Harmon's age as Davenport, but I was thinking someone more gruff and rough around the edges.

Anyway, like I said, I have enjoyed the novels (including the newer Virgil Flowers-centered ones) so I hope this is good and spawns a series of TV movies.

Actually I did hear about Harmon signing on to this TV movie. The story on TV Line.com said the 1st film was being shot in May during NCIS's summer break.
Obviously NCIS isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so if the 1st film is a ratings hit, I can easily see him shooting one of these movies every year during his show's break.

I've been reading the Prey series from book 1 and Mark Harmon isn't how I picture Davenport. I'll watch though out of sheer curiosity.

Bump for anyone interested this is on tonight at 9pm on USA.
I have a feeling alot of people here won't be able to record it due to DVR conflicts since this is a 2 hour movie.
Here's the promo poster with Harmon:

In case you can't record this at 9pm.
It also re-airs at 11pm and then you will have to wait until November 19th for the next airing.

Words cannot describe how bad that was. Not as bad as the Eriq La Salle version mind you, but the script was (for the majority) brutal, Harmon was sorely miscast (just seemed like a more toned down version of Gibbs) and the supporting roles were weak. This isn't to mention the low production values and awful score. It's sad really because you have something like the Jesse Stone series which, for the most part, are fantastic and then you get this.
