I think Martin made it as clear as he could without resorting to a confessional by Joff

Director Alan Taylor (who shot the pivotal Episode 9 and four episodes for season two) was snatched up to shoot the Thor sequel. Will you guys renew your contracts after season two?

Benioff: We want to keep working on the show and they want to keep us working on it. So I feel like that’s not going to be an issue. We hope to keep going as long as we can, because we love it.

Weiss: We went into this with the potentially over-ambitious notion that to get to the end we would have 70 or 80 hours of continuous, consistent film stories. I don’t know that anybody’s ever really done that before. We’d love to do it.
Looks like D&D envision 7-8 seasons (7 seasons if the last few seasons turn into 13 episode seasons)

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

Just finished re-watching season 1 over the last couple of days (thank you on-demand). First of the show I have watched since the season finale. I also turned on the captioning, and I was surprised at how much more I picked up on this time through, which made it even more enjoyable and well worth the watch regardless of season 2 being about to be launched.

Well, not quite "universally"...one writer had to dissent from the other 21 critics.

Guffawed at the review from (surprise, surprise!) The New York Slimes.

The critic described Tyrion as a "relatively minor character" in Season One.

He also complained about the 'meandering' plotlines following the dispersed Stark clan around Westeros (hope no one gives him Books 4 & 5 for his birthday) and seemed to dismiss the first four episodes as being little more than "decapitations and bare breasts". He also implied that the show had little appeal for anyone outside of the Dungeons & Dragons crowd. The best line was when he said that the show "doesn't give viewers much to latch onto."

Always glad to see the Times being strong advocates for exceptional artistic achievements (he gave GOT a score of 40 and "Storage Wars" a score of 80).
