Agreed. Sundays have become the battle grounds for cable network's flagship shows.
Maureen Ryan with a great review:
Martin's books take what could be generic ideas about morality and honor and make them compelling through very specific and individual dilemmas and concerns. There are wars, love affairs, surprising reversals and a persistent, powerful but unpredictable magic that continually asserts itself at key moments. Through it all, knotty questions are constantly asked of kings, servants, mercenaries and outcasts: At what point do you draw a line and assert that someone else's actions are wrong? When do you risk everything you have to fight what you've decided is evil? How do you even decide what evil is? What ideas and relationships are worth fighting for, and when is discretion the better part of valor?
There are no easy answers, but as it gains mastery in its depiction of Martin's complex and compassionate saga, "Game of Thrones" is doing an increasingly satisfying job of exploring those questions.

I just watched a new featurette on HBO Go last night. It's called "You Win or You Die" and runs about 20+ minutes. Very good watch. They interview the creators and talk to alot of the cast. It recaps alot of season 1 and previews season 2.
Watched it on the XBox 360 last night in HD and it looked great too.

I started my rewatch of S1 last night. Got through the first two episodes, each by itself first, then with commentary. That makes 4 of 17 "episodes", so I should be finished Friday or Saturday night. I seriously cannot wait for Sunday!

The twitterverse is on fire with journalists loving the first four episodes even with the changes from the books (Is that a spoiler?)

I expect a ton of changes from book 2 since most of it just wouldn't be interesting to watch as it was written.

The thing is that many characters are so far removed from one another that's you can really explain time discrepancies away with simple travel time. It doesn't have to be completely in-sync.

Well the 3rd book will most likely be split into 2 seasons, but I'm guessing anything from books 2-4 could be mixed in with the 3rd book.

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News
I'm rewatching the first season and I have a question about King Baratheon's death. Was the boar supposed to be a regular size boar or are they bigger in the GoT universe?

I don't remember the boar being described as larger or special in any way. I think it was just a fluke accident.

This is to answer his book question, w/o furthering spoilering his reading, so don't look if you are not up to Dr. DVD's question.

There's nothing conclusive, but even in our universe it's not unheard of: http://www.spiegel.de/international/...583377,00.html

Just re-watched season one on blu-ray.
Has it ever been revealed who killed Jon Arryn (if he was indeed murdered) and who sent assassin to kill Bran?
I had sort of assumed that Jon Arryn was killed by Cersei and/or Jaime because he had figured out that her children were not Robert's. He might have died from natural causes, but with all of the political machinations afoot, it seems unlikely. But it is never directly stated that they were responsible.
Likewise, I also believed that either Cersei or Jaime had tried to have Bran killed to keep the same secret, but when Littlefinger saw the knife and implicated Tyrion I started wondering if it wasn't a set-up on his part to send the Starks and Lannisters against each other.
However, that only works if someone discovers the knife. Which they wouldn't have if the assassin hadn't been killed by Bran's wolf, which I don't believe was part of the plan. I'm 99% certain that Tyrion is innocent, though.
Is this stuff ever revealed in the books?
