Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

Question: only the first book is called "Game of Thrones." Shouldn't the second season be called "Clash of Kings," or maybe "A Game of Thrones:Clash of Kings?" Why do they still call it Game of Thrones if the rest of the series isn't truly about a game of thrones in the same way it was in the first season/book?

My guess is that they fear viewers not familiar with the books reacting with a "wtf" if they go by the book titles and assuming it's a whole new show.

As speculated by Westeros.org yesterday, it is confirmed this morning:

http://www.amandahowardassociates.co...tors/index.php

"John Stahl will shortly begin filming for the second series of Game of Thrones for HBO/Sky."

Speculation that he will play Rickard Karstark

"Game of Thrones" fits just fine for the entire series.

Re: Game of Thrones (HBO) Season 2: Casting, News

Finished the book of Game of Thrones last weekend , and almost finished with the previous HBO season save for the last ep. The series does a great job of representing the characters and keeps everything pretty dang close to the source material with some minor tweaks. They have obviously aged some of the Stark children a bit, but nothing too distracting and quite understandable. The only area where I feel it lacks is in the battle sequences. I know this series cost a large amount of money, but couldn't they spare a bit more to bring those to life? The scene where Tyrion is leading his men to battle and they knock him out in order to fade to the aftermath felt like an obvious excuse to avoid showing something that required a grand scale. Furthermore, I feel it kind of robbed the Tyrion character of the opportunity to display bravery as he did in the book.

Just my .02, plan on starting the second book soon. I hope Marting continues to write the stories; would be a shame if the HBO series end was not due to the plug being pulled, but no source from which to draw.

There was only one battle in the book. We only hear about the Whispering Woods and the Battle of the Camps second hand well after they were over.

Totally agree with this part. It was the only thing that really annoyed me in the whole season.

they didnt have the budget for the battle. it sounded like they were pretty limited moneywise while filming. hopefully they'll have a bigger budget for later seasons since there will be more locations/sets needed

Still could have handled Tyrion's part in the battle much better than they did.
