Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Only 3 more left. Phew. This show is running on fumes.

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Based on the synopsis it looks like we'll have a whole lot of filler plot.
Hoping that they at least make some big strides in the case with just 3 episodes left. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Not sure if it means anything, but Sepinwall tweeted that this episode will feel like it's an entirely different show, and possibly a better one.

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Holder is so awesome. "You ever have a day or two where you're not PMSing??"

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I still think the Linden kid is the crackhead baby. The obtuse references to "seeing dad", felt like he was visiting him in prison.
Holder's nephew using "Later Habibi" ("Arabic word whose literal meaning is my beloved") cannot be accidental. The nephew murdered Rosie, as we know all Muslims must be guilty of something, per this show. With 13 episodes, i cannot understand why they would burn one off like this. There has to be some secret hidden clue in this after school special of an episode. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I love Holder, he is by far the most sympathetic and real character on the show. Of course, I am at least interested in everyone.. except for Richmond.
This was a great episode, although with it being so close to the end I thought that they would advance the case a bit more. I cannot complain though, we had a lot of interesting character development and gold Holder moments, and Richmond was nowhere to be found. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I agree with what's been said already.
Some interesting character development, but odd timing with it being so close to the end of the season. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I was interested in read all the comments here, it's early I know, but yeah, I really liked this episode. If you just think of it like an episode by itself, without the rest of the show it's really great. But yeah, really? 3 episodes to resolve the crime, the mystery, and we have a full episode to learn more about Holder and Sarah? I was hoping for the dead boy to really be her son so the episode was worthwhile or something.
Again, the episode was great, but for a series that's still fighting for renewal this may not be the best choice. So we now have two episodes to find out about who killed Rosie and we haven't advanced any from last week. At least from the previews we can see that they will answer some questions next week. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I'm still of the belief that they will not resolve the Rosie murder this season and this episode added to that belief. Hard to imagine they can wrap it up in 2 episodes.
AMC needs to do a crossover episode or spinoff with Holder and Jesse from Breaking Bad, yo. There's even a Funyuns connection now! |

Wow! I would watch that show! Every. Day. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
I definitely liked this episode. Did not miss the mayor and Larsen family storylines at all. The cliffhanger at the end was so predictable though, yes she was at the casino, we kinda figured that...

So this is "the Fly" episode of The Killing?

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Didn't mind the episode as a character builder, but I'll echo the comments in this thread. It felt oddly timed. If this had aired three weeks ago, I probably still would have thought it was filler, but it was more interesting then some of the other "filler" type episodes.
I don't think this show needed to be more than ten episodes. They've stretched how far you can take one case. However, I don't see any way they don't resolve the murder this year. It would be a cheat if it isn't and carries over into a season two that this show doesn't have yet. I'm not saying it will be a neat bow tied finish, but there will be some resolution. |

Anyway, I really liked this "filler" episode. It didn't advance the investigation much, but it sure was a good hour of television. I hated Holder during the initial few episodes, but he's grown to be my favorite character on this show by far. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Agree with most of the sentiments.. I really liked the episode, but seemed odd timing near the end of the season to not progress the investigation any.

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
As a strong supporter of this show, I must admit this was a waste of an episode so close to the end. This needed to have been earlier in the season. However, I have to believe there was a reason it wasn't.
This show has been great about dropping little clues here and there. Can't wait for whatever comes next. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
This episode was a waste of time... 2 minutes of the investigation at the beginning and 30 seconds at the end. I appreciate fleshing out characters, but it should've been done throughout the season and not just plopped into an entire episode. It was like the writers thought "oh crap, we still haven't fleshed out the characters much at all... let's use the next episode to do it before we wrap the season up".
I was partially hoping the dead kid would wind up being Linden's - so there'd be some payoff to the episode... but I knew that would take further time away from the Rosie investigation. Are we supposed to hate the Linden character? I find her unprofessional, bitchy and a cry-baby/suck. The scene where she wanted out of the car and Holder begged her to get back in made her look even more whiney and weak. It was like a couples fight. |

Has there even been a more unlikeable series lead than Linden? That I sympathize more with Bennett than the show's protagonist makes it hard to care whether or not she even solves the case. Or season two for that matter. I do enjoy Holder, and I'm actually rooting for Billy Campbell's Richmond (best performance on the show by far). Didn't mind the break from the investigation. Makes sense to digress from the murder since Linden's missing son is obviously a more pressing issue than solving the Rosie murder. |

I agree that anyone would drop everything to look for their kid... it's perfectly understandable. But the writers can control whether her son is missing or not.

Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
Good episode, but like everyone else, I think it was oddly/poorly timed. It would have been better to get this episode a little earlier, or spread out over the course of a few episodes.
Holder is definitely the best character on this show. He's extremely well-written and well-acted and has a lot of depth. If this show gets another season, I hope Linden leaves and Holder becomes the lead. He's sympathetic and I feel like he's someone we can actually root for, since he's getting his life together and trying to make amends. And he's got a great sense of humor. It was nice to see some background on Linden and for her to actually show some emotion, but the character is pretty unlikable. I can't imagine that her son isn't the crack baby or whatever she was talking about. Add to that Reggie is a social worker it just seems to make sense. I sort of wondered this episode as well as earlier when he was sending out the pictures if Jack wasn't the murderer; he seems pretty screwed up, but I doubt they'll go in that direction. Holder: "Kick his ass." Linden: "No doubt." The "cliffhanger" at the end was pretty lame, since it was really obvious that Rosie was at the casino. Would have been more interesting if it was another character, like Richmond or one of his staffers or Rosie's Aunt. |
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
What are you guys talking about with crack baby? I must have missed it.
|
Re: The Killing -- "Missing" -- 6/05/11
When Holder and Linden were at the restaurant and she was talking about a previous case she worked on. She said the dad killed the mother and she had him put away so the kid was taken by protective services.
