Probably because the show doesn't give two shits about any other children. If I didn't look at those family trees, I wouldn't even know they existed.

This forum needs a facepalm icon, but for now I suppose a random will do.

They had a scene in the show to establish their existence, though granted it was only that one scene. So they're roughly as important as the direwolves thus far.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "A Golden Crown" -- 5/22/11

In the Game of Thrones novel, they go a little further into the contents of the book that Ned (and Jon Arryn) was reading. Basically, it's a book of lineages of the great houses, and EVERY time a Baratheon has a kid -- including when a Baratheon has a kid with a Lannister -- the kid has dark hair. Couple that with Robert's dark-haired-bastards-with-light-haired-mothers, and Ned puts two and two together. Would it stand up in a modern courtroom? Maybe not. But if Ned goes to Robert and says "Hey, how come you have three blond kids when every other Baratheon kid ever has black hair," I don't think Robert is likely to say "Hmmm. Let's bring in a geneticist to opine on the likelihood of that happening. I'm sure it's just a coincidence."

Thanks. No, Robert doesn't seem to have measured, thoughtful reactions to stressful situations.

That was good enough.

When LoTR came out, I was dumfounded why they left Tom Bombadil out of the movie. But his character didn't have any purpose as to the main plot so I suppose they left him out for time. Was just wondering if the wolves were just a curiosity with no bearing on the overall story.

True Blood did that well in its first season too.

Using LotR, my best comparison would be that leaving out the wolves would be akin to leaving out the Ents.

I don't know, but my son instantly cried foul regarding the melting point of gold.

They should get the Mythbusters dudes to give it a run. I wouldn't mind anyone from that show suffering the same fate in the name of truth.

But what is the melting point of gold-wrapped chocolate?

Are we really debating the melting point of gold in a show where Dragon Eggs exist?

Agreed. Some of these posts are just rediculous considering we are watching and discussing a series that fully embraces the "fantasy" genre.

To be fair, with the exception of the zombie attack in episode one, thus far the season has been fairly realistic.

I agree, any complaint about this show can and should be summarily dismissed by "Dragon Eggs!"?

Since the books are not written in linear chapter form they lend well to HOLY SHIT! moments

Btw. A show where a man can clean decapitate a horse with a broadsword stroke should not be called out on the melting point of gold.

The show is set on a planet where summer can last ten years and winters can last a lifetime. Clearly, things here are a little out of whack compared to Earth so I can overlook the melting point of gold and things like that.
