Food Network getting sued over "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives."
http://foodnetworkhumor.com/2011/05/...ins-and-dives/
Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives has the dubious distinction of being one of the only shows I absolutely, unequivocally can not force myself to watch. Fieri is an obnoxious bearded troll of a man, and the sound of him moaning while he’s shoving unidentifiable haunches of meat into his mouth makes me die inside. I’ve silently wished to the heavens many times that this horrific piece of shit show would be canceled – and my wish finally may be coming true. The producer of the series (Page Productions) is suing the Food Network in federal court for “breach of contract.” You can download the whole document here, but according to my vast legal expertise (read: three business law classes at UConn) it basically says: In 2007, Food Network retained Page Productions to produce and deliver seasons 12-14 of the show. Food Network was responsible for “furnishing the services of the host” and paying his salary. Fieri’s fee was “separate from the budget for the series” because he’s a diva bitch like that. Page Productions is suing Food Network for “failing to provide the services of the host” and “failing to make payments required by the contract.” Page Productions alleges Food Network told them they “would not comply with its obligations under the contract and would not allow Page to produce the series after season 12.” If Food Network couldn’t “retain services” of the bearded troll, does this mean Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives is going to be canceled? Or do they just want out of their contract with their current producer? It will be interesting to see how this one plays out, and we’ll bring you more info as it becomes available. This is happening to a small production company in my city, and it kind of sucks because they had to lay off a bunch of people. The production community isn't very big here, and frankly, hate or love Guy, this was one of the better television shows produced out of Minneapolis. |

Love Triple D and Guy, so I would hate to see it not come back.

I actually like this show and would hate to see it go. They show some great places I'd love to visit.

There's a website solely devoted to snarking on The Food Network? The apocalypse is truly upon us .

I'm not sure I would miss it if it didn't come back. There are so many eps I haven't seen yet, I'm sure I could be happy for awhile. ;)

Guy is a complete fucking knob but I really like the concept of the show and seeing all the different places I had no idea existed.

I actually thought this would be about one of the joints profiled objecting to being called a "dive".

I like the show and got some good ideas for things to make as well (just thinking about the bacon-wrapped hot dogs clogs my arteries but it's so damn good).

Like the show in spite of Guy but damn the guy who wrote that article is a bigger tool than Fieri.

This is one of the few shows I enjoy watching this from time to time on Food Network as well. Hopefully they can get things worked out.

Like the show and the writer of the article sounds like a douchebag.

This is the best show on the network.

I've heard numerous times that Guy is an asshole in real life. Don't know if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. I get annoyed by the phony hipster character he plays on TV. Everything is "money", "off the hook", "the bomb" or "flavor town". It's so repetitive. They should just film Guy reciting his catchphrases on green screen. Then they could digitally insert him into each restaurant, and the show could go on forever.
Aside from Guy, I like these shows that highlight small local places. I thought Alton's "Feasting on Asphalt" series was really good. |

Guy may be annoying, but he's 10,000x better than those pretenders they've been rolling out lately. Some annoying bald dude talking about meat and some bearded dude trying his damnedest to be like guy.

I love the show but I could do without Guy.

Guy is simply an organic receptacle with taste buds.
