From what I could google, Page pitched the concept and Food Network commissioned a special/pilot which they then picked it up as a series. Apparently that included buying the rights to the show because FN has announced the show will continue, with Guy as host. The lawsuit doesn't say much more than the article, just that FN failed to provide a host ("and other services") or make required talent fee payments.

I prefer going to places shown on Best Thing I Ever Ate. When Guy gives a recommendation on that show, it's pretty much his top picks from DDD.

I've heard numerous times that Guy is an asshole in real life. Don't know if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. I get annoyed by the phony hipster character he plays on TV. Everything is "money", "off the hook", "the bomb" or "flavor town". It's so repetitive. They should just film Guy reciting his catchphrases on green screen. Then they could digitally insert him into each restaurant, and the show could go on forever.
Aside from Guy, I like these shows that highlight small local places. I thought Alton's "Feasting on Asphalt" series was really good. |

Where did you find the announcement that the show will continue with Guy as host? Just curious.
Food Network has not yet responded to the federal lawsuit in court, but said in a statement that it looks "forward to continuing to work with Guy Fieri to produce future original episodes of his popular show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." |
