I'm in for The Office and Chuck. And 30 Rock mid-season. Nothing new from the peacock for me.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

The Sing off? Why? We need a total of 4 music shows now, American Idol, this, The Voice and that new Simon Cowell show.
Tim Goodman said it better than anyone:

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

It seems that for the first time, in a long time, I'm not watching anything from NBC. I will watch a few Sunday Football games, and maybe a few SNL episodes too, but there won't be anything in my DVR.

Hope you all appreciate the effort to copy and paste all those trailers in here. That was a doozy. I think text desciptions don't really do much for some, so maybe the video will better help you decide on these shows.

I watched the trailer for Awake and that has a very unique premise. It seems more suited for a movie though. Weird hearing Jason Isaacs speak with an American accent.

I appreciate it. Those clips earlier today didn't do much for me, but the trailers I did watch helped a lot. I was going to say a trailer needs to be shorter like a movie (especially if you have a 20 or 40 minute show!), but I found myself totally engrossed by the trailer for Awake.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

Watched the trailers for (that I'm interested in):

Grimm: Looks really cool. I'm totally game for it Has a very Supernatural vibe. On the downside, I think it's competing in the same timeslot as Supernatural. I noticed the tagline said it's from the EP of Buffy and Angel.

Playboy Club: I like the look of the show, but I have a feeling that Eddie Cibiran is going to be a really tough sell as the lead. I do like Amber Heard and she has the look for the era. It looks like the show has a serialized storyline judging by what that trailer showed.

Prime Suspect: Gets kind of a meh from me right now. I like Maria Bello alot. Really hot and I think she'll be good playing a tough female lead. But, that preview made it look like a dozen or so NYPD procedurals that get released every year.

Smash: The musical genre is a guilty pleasure and it has a good cast, so I will check it out. I like Kat McPhee, but I don't know if she's a good actress or not.

Awake: Looks fantastic. Hopefully it brings a fresh spin to the Police genre.

Also interested in The Firm, but since nothing has been filmed yet, that is wait and see.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

After watching some of those previews, Grimm and Up All Night look a little better than I expected. I like the different 'dark fairy tale' approach for Grimm as I was expecting a more typical supernatural type show. Up All Night had a nice mix of cuteness and edge, although I'm not sure how I feel about the workplace clips with Applegate and Maya Rudolph.

Awake is an interesting premise, but I worry it's one of those shows where I love the pilot but by episode 3 I've lost interest.

Whitney and the Chelsea Handler show look atrocious. It's not just that they use laugh tracks; it's that they abuse them. Two and a Half Men looks like a subtle, nuanced comedy in comparison.

Smash looks like Glee for gorwn-ups minus the camp. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Up All Night actually looks promising. I'm glad it's a multi-cam comedy and not a studio laugh track one. Maybe Will Arnett will finally have a hit here?

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

Awake - trailer started out slow, but man it seems like it has a great 'hook.' Question is, how long can they drag it out? Sold.

Prime Suspect - pretty generic title, but Bello could make this a hit.

Playboy Club - 'eh. NBC's take on Mad Men. Other than a ton of cleavage it didn't look like anything remarkable.

Up All Night - 5 minute trailer without a single laugh. Ouch. I have two kids under 6 so I'm not too far removed from that demo either.

Bent - trailer had some cute moments. Amanda Peet is solid. The guy is very reminiscent of Adrian Grenier/Vinny Chase. Doesn't look like a home run, but might be worth checking out.

Free Agents - Love Azaria, but like Up All Night, a 5 minute clip couldn't generate a single laugh.

Grimm - Looks different. Not sure how they could make that interesting every week. Felt like it should be a mini-series.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

Why does Eddie Cibrian still get work in Hollywood? He's a total bore on the screen. But damn them for casting Amber Heard, so I gotta give it a look.

She made it worth it.

That Prime Suspect trailer is miles better than that weak clip they played earlier today. Maybe I'll check it out because of Peter Berg then. She seems like a very capable person to pull of a strong female lead. Luckily they didn't end up with a miscast like Jennifer Beals in the Chicago Code.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

The Playboy Club: Definite Pass - Looks pretty dumb and uninteresting to me actually. All of the actors felt pretty wooden and it's pretty clear they're just trying to draw in viewers with the title and subject matter, but it doesn't seem like there's a compelling story to tell.

Up All Night: Will Give it a Shot - I love Christina Applegate and have always enjoyed Maya Rudolph, so that's a selling point. Will Arnett looks subdued enough to not turn me off of the show immediately as well. The problem is, the trailer just wasn't all that funny. On the other hand, I do appreciate that there isn't a laugh track and it doesn't seem to be going for a "typical sitcom," so I'll probably at least give it a shot.

Free Agents: Undecided, but Probably a Pass - I really like the cast, but the trailer was pretty much devoid of laughs. That could either mean the show is completely unfunny or it's just a poorly put together trailer. I'll need to see some clips to make up my mind.

Whitney: Definite Pass - Seems like typical cliched sitcom garbage. I couldn't even make it through the trailer.

Prime Suspect: Might Check Out - On the plus side, Maria Bello looks great in this. However, I'm not sure I really want to see yet another police procedural. But, from the looks of the trailer it might be serialized with a murder investigation taking place over the course of a season or at least multiple episodes, in which case I think I'd be on board

Grimm: Will Give it a Shot - Seems like a nice take on the fairy tale genre and I definitely got a Supernatural/Buffy/Angel vibe from it, so I wasn't at all surprised to see it's from producers involved with the latter two shows. I'm also interested in seeing Silas Weir Mitchell in a starring role, since he's always great with supporting characters. I do hope those aren't the final graphics though, as they're a bit hokey.

Awake: Will Definitely Check Out - This looks to be one of my most anticipated shows of next season. Seems to have an incredibly compelling story and a very unique idea that I wouldn't want to miss. Laura Allen was great in Terriers, so that's another reason to check it out.

Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea: Undecided, but Probably a Pass - Laura Prepon looks pretty good in this, and seems like she'd be make for a good narrator. But other than that, the rest of the cast just doesn't seem like they're any good; most of them are really hamming it up and going over-the-top with it to the point where it seems like they'll become caricatures.

Bent: Will Give it a Shot - Amanda Peet and Jeffrey Tambor are enough to get me to at least check this out, and the guy from Perfect Couples (which was indescribably awful) actually looks pretty good in this. This show definitely has more of a romantic comedy movie vibe to it though, not a television show vibe.

Smash: Probably a Pass - The premise just doesn't really appeal to me and Katherine McPhee doesn't look like she can act for shit. Debra Messing and Angelica Houston would be the only reason I'd check this out, if I end up watching it at some point.

The trailer for Awake is fantastic. I agree with DJariya that the premise seems more suited for a film, but I'll be giving it a shot.

Awake looks pretty good. Might check out Grimm, but not sure. Also might check out Up All Night.

Re: NBC's Fall 2011 Schedule

Awake definitely has a very interesting premise. BD Wong from SVU plays one of the psychiatrists. I'm curious as to how the series unfolds, whether or not it is serialized or just goes on like a procedural.

Grimm looks like a definite watch for me too. Since I like Amanda Peet I will check out Bent. Didn't like the Prime Suspect one though although that is because I've seen a couple of the original miniseries with Helen Mirren.

Whitney looks terrible. Thursday night NBC comedy already has a no laugh track rule. Why break it now?

None of these look good. I wish I could trade all these channels for HBO and Showtime.

I'd gladly choose NBC over both HBO and Showtime if only for Community and Parks And Recreation.

Yeah because she got topless in that. She won't on NBC.

I'll check out Awake. The rest, not a chance.

Not even Awake looks appealing to you? I think judging by the synopsis and that 4 1/2 minute preview, that is the most unique idea for Police serial drama in a long time.

Awake looks really, really solid.

Grimm seems like Supernatural only with fairy tale creatures.
