Synopsis:

Spoiler:
After suffering partial paralysis while searching for a long-lost love, lottery winner Cyrus Harry (guest star Donal Logue, Terriers) is brought to Princeton Plainsboro for treatment by House and the team. Cuddy's mother (guest star Candice Bergen) threatens to sue the hospital for malpractice, jeopardizing both Cuddy and House's medical licenses. Chase and Foreman make a bet that tests each one in different ways.

Good to see Donal Logue get some work Post-Terriers.

Re: House -- "Changes" -- 5/02/11

at Chase rigging the blood pressure machine on Foreman. I loved Foreman's reactions every time his blood pressure went up.

Surprisingly, House and Cuddy actually annoyed me alot in this episode. I like that House is back to being a dick again, but they need to find some sort of resolution to this storyline. I'd like to see them be able to work together and House keep his snarkiness without him treating her like shit each week because of their broken relationship.

Most of the time, I think the cases of the week are pretty routine and boring, but I actually liked Donal Logue as the patient and the case was interesting too. Once 13 mentioned that his "girlfriend" was wearing new clothes each day, it was pretty easy to figure out that she was scamming him. Not surprised that his cousin was also involved.

Yeah, I'm hoping they resolve that House/Cuddy thing too.

Episode was decent, but lately it seems like most of the episodes are just that, decent. I need some great episodes soon to keep me watching, or my TV viewing may soon be Fox-less.

Did anyone else get nostalgic about "Terriers" watching this?

And WTF is up with Logue's long hair? He has it in everything he does. He needs his manager to tell him that he looks like a fucking hobo.

Yes and I agree. I think the last time it was "shorter" was during Grounded for Life.

Thought it was boring for the most part. The huddy stuff was annoying.

Also Doug from Flight of the Conchords, in which he was hilarious.

The show was great when House and Cuddy were together, but falling back into the same formula as before sucks.

The Cousin was also the newspaper editor in The 5th Season of The Wire, and he played the dad on those long form Microsoft commercials a few years ago.

Re: House -- "Changes" -- 5/02/11

Show still has not been renewed for next season. I had no idea an episode of House costs in excess of $5m at this point, that seems insane (puts 1 season at over a $120m budget).

Apparently Universal is looking to cut the budget by a good bit next season so Fox will keep it on the air and they'll keep their billion dollar franchise alive and well (guessing NBC doesn't want a $5m+ per episode show on the air). Laurie makes $400,000 an episode.

So yeah, some noticeable changes are likely to come. Knew the expanding cast couldn't have come cheap.

I wouldn't be surprised if next season is its last. And why not, 8 years is one hell of a run.

FOX would be foolish not to renew it. I mean they get better numbers when they REPEAT an episode on Friday night instead of airing new, original programming that they have to PAY for. And Universal certainly wants to add to their syndication bankroll.

That said, I'd be fine with the show wrapping up after next season. It has been a good run.

Yeah, plus this pulls great numbers on USA and Bravo for NBCU, so it's a win all around. If NBC were doing better this would be a non-issue and House would just jump networks for a final season or 2.

Considering Fox likely has renewed Bones for it's last (or second to last Season), Glee already showing signs of being the next "O.C.", Terra Nova getting pushed back (and very expensive) and X-Factor being a complete question mark...foolish is a good word for it.

By my estimates, it costs less than 1.5M for the actors fees per episode. What are they spending the rest 3.5M on????

Uhhh, sets, writers, directors, producers, cameramen, editing.

FOX was complaining about the same thing for 24 during it's 8th season that it was getting too expensive to produce and that's why they ended that too in it's 8th season.

Do all the above costs also increase as seasons progress? I thought only the actors fees increased.

I'm sure it cost a lot to rent that monster truck a few episodes back.

They could probably stand to lose the CGI "Inside views" of patients. Doesn't really help the story much.

Yes, everything goes up as a show gets older. David Shore and Katie Jacobs, who are the show's Executive Producers, make a ton of money. Bryan Singer, who doesn't do shit on this show and is an In Name only Producer, also gets paid. Jacobs gets her producing fee and she also gets a directing fee when she directs episodes as well. FOX and Universal also need to re-sign Shore to be showrunner for season 8 as his deal is up and he will probably get a salary bump too.

they have actually given up a bunch of the CGI stuff this season. in fact, when they did it this past episode, i was like "hey, we haven't seen much of that."
