Michael looking over the office one last time and then Creed's "See you tomorrow boss" couldn't have been done better.

Thought I was going to be able to hold it together, and then when Pam showed up at the airport, I lost it. Amazing episode. So sad to see him go.

A truly remarkable episode and a great sendoff for a wonderful character.
I really liked how Michael didn't make it about him, but just wanted to do something nice for everyone before he left. His letter of recommendation for Dwight and the moment in his office with Jim were definite highlights. Not hearing what he said to Pam was a nice touch; although not completely unexpected once he took the microphone off.
Nice to see Andy go back in and make the sale.
Dwight: "Uh oh"
Jim: *nods head*
That brief exchange between the two characters really demonstrated how it had finally sunk in that Michael was really gone.
Also, it was a nice tribute to the original series with Michael taking his microphone off and asking for them to let him know when it airs.
---
I'm sure this was really emotional for the cast and crew too. I mean, they've worked with Carell all these years, and now he's leaving and they'll have to come into work and he just won't be there. I imagine that influenced a lot of the emotions that ran through the show.

I may have missed it, but did Michael give Creed his world's best boss cup or did Creed take it out of the trash?

I'm really glad they kept D'Angelo to a minimum this episode and took him out of the office for most of his scenes. I was worried in the beginning that he would have been a huge distraction throughout and take away from Michael's leaving.

I was half joking about putting a spoiler on it. But some younger person who watches The Office may have never watched MASH, but is about to start watching the entire series on DVD. I thought the general policy here was to not spoil one show in another show's thread.
And yeah, I have heard about the Rosebud spoiler many times even though I have never seen Citizen Kane.

Anyways, thought this was a great episode. Loved one final and silent "that's what she said" at the airport. Didn't really feel the Pam scene, all I could think was how high of a price she paid for a walk up plane ticket. Ha.

I know a war actually ending is a concept from the past so thought I should ask.

I liked it and I've not been a fan of most episodes of the show for some time (and I much prefer the UK Office). This was really well done though. The one thing that bugs me is how Pam was able to get past security and watch the plane leave since she's not a ticketed passenger which you can't do
Will be interesting to see where they go with the remaining episodes. Maybe they will end up going.

Pam could have bought a refundable ticket at the last minute, which would have gotten her through security to the proper concourse of Michael's flight.

Solid episode overall, with Michael giving everyone a heartfelt yet appropriately awkward goodbye. But I really loved everything from Jim coming into Michael's office until the end. Loved the way Jim handled it, and that Michael wanted to be able to leave seeing everyone the way he remembered them, at work in the office, instead of some weepy goodbye. As someone who has moved a decent number of times, I know how tough that last look is, when you realize you probably won't ever see those people again--Carell really nailed it for my money.

You know - if a person has no knowledge of MASH and is watching it for the first time, they will have no idea what that picture was referring to (and may not even realize it's from the show!) but all the debate afterwards about how it's a spoiler probably did a lot worse damage.

I also loved Michael's speech to Erin. That was a really touching moment with Michael fully embracing his parental figure role for Erin. Funny to think how much he disliked her at the start. Liked her little joke about his numbering the extension.

Great send off for Michael. Loved how it didn't show Michael as a complete idiot but as someone who was 100% aware of how he was perceived the entire time. I thought it was perfect that half the group didn't know it was his last day... It kept it so that just the most important characters got to really say goodbye. Loved that.
I actually didn't get too emotional but the part where Dwight read the letter was the closest I got to tearing up. The goodbye to Jim was perfect. Wasn't a big fan of the goodbye to Pam, I wish that she just ran into him at in the parking lot instead. The perfect final shot would have been Michael taking the mic out and saying "that's what she said" as he walked away. But thats nitpicking, it was a great send off for a great character.
Through it all though I think my favorite line was to the camera man saying "hey let me know if this ever gets made."

Really enjoyed this. A great moment with Jim at the end, and Pam too. It was always about those three and I'm glad they remembered that.

Great episode. I'm sad to see Michael Scott leave.
