Re: The Voice (NBC) -- Season 11 Thread -- Premieres 9/19/16
It took some effort, but I'm caught up in time for the finale.
Disappointed that Sa'Rayah went out first among the Top 12. Not that she would have won, but I felt like she was pretty good, and deserved to stay around at least a couple weeks longer. I wonder if having 4 strong black female voices might have split some people's votes and resulted in less support than if just 1-2 of those women were there?
I really wasn't a fan of Darby, so was happy to see her go 11th.
I would have liked to see Aaron go next. But was very bummed at losing both Austin & Courtney.
Very relieved that Aaron finally did go. I didn't dislike him, but for the appeal was limited, and he was by far the weakest person in the Top 12 for me, excluding Darby.
The other cuts to get down to 4 seemed a lot tougher. I liked Christian, but felt the his last 2 performances were his weakest (especially when they went from 10-8), and that he ultimately wasn't as strong as some of the other contestants.
I really liked Ali and Brendan, but more cuts had to be made of course, and I can't argue with the 4 who made it through. Nice to see Josh hanging in there, though it's tough to think he can win in the end. We shall see.
Btw, I saw that it'll be Alicia and Gwen next Season. I like Gwen, though she seems to me weak as a Coach. Perhaps she'll have some good chemistry with Alicia.

I thought Courtney's song selection was terrible, which is something that usually happens to Team Adam. She didn't have the power in her voice that she needed to pull off her songs.

Didn't we just watch this? I think I'm out, they have milked this too much with the twice a year format. Plus the formula never varies. Same old cover songs, same old types. Then somebody wins & we never hear of them again....

Formula is still the same. Nothing new about the blind auditions. Gwen had a ton of makeup caked on her along with the hair extensions. I actually think Alicia Keys is much more naturally beautiful than her. Plus, she wears pretty much no makeup.
I know talking about a music talent show like this nowadays isn't really compelling reading, so I'm sure most here don't give a crap about this thread.
But, I did like the 16-year old Filipino girl from Temecula, CA. But, I don't think she has much chance moving on.
The last girl Gwen Temple, who is a cancer survivor, was pretty good.
It's going to be really hard keeping up with this 4-6 hours per week for another season. I've debated giving up on this show so many times.

After they get out of the auditions I just record it and fast forward through everything but the performances. You'll cut the time watching in half.

This season blows.
How the hell the kid with the long hair that ended that nights show made it to the next round, let alone had a 4 chair turn, is mystifying.

Thoughts on going into the final 12
Team Blake: I'm shocked Casi Joy is gone, I thought she would make it deep into the show. Though that may work out for Blake in the end because it's less competition for Lauren who, unless she has a major screw-up, will make the final.
Team Alycia: Chris Blue and Vanessa are good and have a chance to go far.
Team Gwen: Gwen has 2 serious contenders with Brennley, boy did Blake screw up dropping her, and Hunter.
Team Adam: I think he has the worst team of the 3 and, by far, the worst team he's ever had.

Impressive job by Gwen sabotaging her team with shitty songs like Adam usually does
The big winner is Lauren who doesn't have to worry about Brennly syphoning country votes.

Adam Levine is leaving the show after 16 seasons
Stefani is coming back. If Blake and Gwen are still a pair that could be interesting.

Without the back and forth between Adam and Blake, I don't think I'll watch at all. The blandest singer usually wins and around the time of the battle rounds, the judges start ruining any unique sound the contestants might have had in the try-outs for the most part. Guess that'll save me some time on my schedule for other shows I need to catch up on so no biggie.

Last night was Blake Shelton's last night and the big performance with the former winners from Blake's team really highlighted how no one from this show goes on to have major success.
Adam and CeeLo were the only former judges to actually be there.
