Re: The Voice -- Season 2 -- The Auditions Thread -- Premieres 2/05/12

I really liked Nicolle Gaylon, the blonde country pianist. However, I did notice her voice was cracking once Adam turned around.

Was surprised they all passed on that 300 pound dude. He had a pretty good soul voice. at the random shot of the dude with the rainbow tutu on his way in.

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with Anthony Evans, the preacher's son. I thought Jesse Campbell, who is also on Christina's team has a much more poweful voice.

And I agree. I don't see why everyone loved Charlotte Sometimes so much. Yeah her voice is different, but it's so thin. She'll get eaten up by the power vocalists in the later rounds.

I thought the last girl Mathai was okay. Again, her voice was a little too thin. She handled that Adele song alright, but she'll get eaten up by the power vocalists.

 Surprisingly, for the male singers last night, I really liked Jonathas. I did not see that R&B Usher-type voice coming from him at all.

Did Charlotte Sometimes name herself after the movie, or is Sometimes actually a common name?

I did like the Sandwich maker's vocals.

The Queen singer was a little too sure of himself.

Yes! Although I liked the guy and felt bad nobody turned around.

I feel like he judges are being especially picky and it's going to bite some of them. I wonder if we'll get the recycle round this year.

I don't get it sometimes. Why did three turn for Lex Land. She was awful.

Go away Novocain!

I think Adam has the strongest team, but not sure he has the strongest singer. Xtina's is very diverse, Ceelo's is the weakest IMO

He is definitely talented ... and very f&^#ing arrogant.

I think the judges were simply confused and weren't sure what to make of his style. I think the line of the whole competition had to be: "How are you not a woman?!"

Agreed ... I might get it if one heard some potential and turned around, but THREE?

:thmbsdwn: OMG, Lex Land was fucking awful. Thought she was by far the worst one tonight. I cannot believe they turned around for her. Blake got a turkey there.

 The last girl Sera Hill, who did Mary J. Blige, was amazing. She was pitch perfect on "I'm going down"

Out of the 4 coaches, I think XTina has the strongest and most diverse team. I also think Adam has a few good ones too. Cee Lo and Blake are on the outside looking in. Could not believe that Cee Lo turned around for those goof ball rockers.

BTW, NBC promoted the shit out of Awake during the 2 hours. There was literally an Awake promo at every other commercial break along with the lower third bugs and animated graphics. They also promoted it alot during Smash. If that doesn't get people to tune in, I don't know what will.

They didn't make much effort to get her either.

Re: The Voice -- Season 2 -- The Auditions Thread -- Premieres 2/05/12

I find it odd how quickly they push the button (especially Adam). It's not like there's a limit of how many chairs can turn, and you know the song will be about 90 seconds. The singer could start well and then hit a bunch of sour notes. Adam likes to say he turned around first, but I don't think that's a big selling point.

And yes, Lex Land and the 2 "rocking" brothers were pretty bad.

Maybe picking Lex and the rock brothers will make the battle round decision easier.

I tried to block the brothers from my memory ...

The whole time they were performing I kept thinking "Who the hell let Bill and Ted (Wyld Stallyns!) on the show?" Did the one brother seriously have a handmade "Douche Brothers" (or whatever their name is) sign attached to his jacket? Wow ...

That's an interesting point ... do the judges purposely pick "Star Trek red shirts" to sacrifice against stronger, more desired competitors?

Re: The Voice -- Season 2 -- The Auditions Thread -- Premieres 2/05/12

I don't think Lex can win, but I think she could be okay. She's a bit like the shy nervous girl last year.

I think the girl at the end was good, but didn't have a distinct sound.

I could see Adam's last pick winning it all. However, as others have said other coaches have some strong contenders.

Was she the little blond who Los like a little girl up against the girl with the curly hair and one raised eyebrow?
If yes, that girl was awful, my wife and I were flabbergasted that they took her.

I disagreed with all the coach's first picks tonight.

Adam's team: Chris and Tony were both great. Tough call, but I would have gone with Chris.
Blake's team: WTF? Adley was ten times better than RaeLynn.
Christina's team: Chris is more polished, but Monique has a great tone in her voice and seemed to have more "star quality."
Cee Lo's team: Fairly even, I thought, but I'd have gone with Angie.

That said, this is my first season watching The Voice and I am really enjoying this show MUCH more than AI.

Also, I would like to motorboat Christina.
