I didn't remember the dialogue, so I hopped over to wikipedia, where it says:

She once again maps her time with the Doctor using her diary, warning him against "spoilers" as before. This diary is explained to hold pictures of the Doctor's various incarnations (which she calls a "spotter's guide"), accounting for River's recognition of the Tenth Doctor in "Silence in the Library" despite this being her only meeting with him.

I don't remember the episode well enough to say whether that is official canon or just something grundle made up, but it makes sense to me.

In one of the episodes last season (with the Weeping Angels), River said she had pictures of all the Doctor's faces.

That was because he was in Human form, using the same disguise technology the Doctor himself used in Human Nature.

See, somehow she knows him, yet there isn't a lot of evidence aside from "I'm a time traveller." and "He came when I called."

I guess every time we've seen her call him otherwise it has been #11. Aside from the kiss in this episode, nothing suggests to me that they would have some hugely romantic experience. I've seen more chemistry between 10 and Rose and 11 and Amy. Heck, even his relationship with Donna seemed more meaningful that anything with River.

I just got the impression that since this was the first time that they kissed from the Doctor's perspective, this would probably be their last kiss from her perspective. I thought she just looked wistful.

'Welcome to America'. I loved that.

Terrific episode. If they keep it this level all of last season's weakness will be forgiven.

Yes, I'm hoping that it was finally put to rest with this episode.

I was hoping that too until they had the last shot of Rory hearing her call the Doctor stupid head. If this wasn't Doctor Who, I think exploring Rory's insecurities could be interesting. But it is not going to be interesting. It is going to be annoying.

That was my impression as well. She just realized that an important (to her) chapter of her relationship with the Doctor was ending.

The scene was poorly directed, but what happened was that Amy was calling Rory "stupid face" to indicate that she knew he was eavesdropping.

I didn't get that from Rory's expression. Though that brings up a bit of a gripe I have with this season and last. It seems like I miss more of the dialouge than I did in the first 4 seasons of the re-boot. Am I alone in that?

That is correct. The look on Rory's face was him realizing he had been caught. Amy said something to the effect of "Oy, stupid face!" and then once he walked back into sight, she continued, "I'm going to take that away if you're going to listen in all the time."

In the end, Rose's "boo" (Mickey) was a more tolerable character than Rose herself. I feel the same vis a vis Rory & Amy. Dude stood guard over you for 2000 years and "stupid face!" is the thanks he gets?

What a horrible thing to say. I'm on the first Tennant season and am still in love with Rose. Not looking forward to her departure.

Yeah, but once she goes, you get to meet the awesomeness that is Martha Jones!
