Synopsis:

Spoiler:
As the study group gathers to assemble their 20th and final Anthropology diorama of the year, they begin reminiscing about their favorite times together - including a trip they made to a western ghost town, a last minute glee club performance, the clandestine trysts that Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) have pulled off and the cornucopia of costumes that Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) has managed to wear over the year. Meanwhile, Troy's (Donald Glover) pet monkey returns, only to disappear back into the school's ventilation system. On the case, Senor Chang (Ken Jeong) quickly dives in to retrieve the monkey - along with all the loot he has stolen. Chevy Chase, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown and Danny Pudi also star.

Abed's wearing the same Pac-Man shirt from Threadless that I have. Awesome.

Pierce: "Let's give them some examples. Troy, drop a beat."

Shirley: "We need to talk."
Jeff: "These people are giving out free iPhones!"

Troy and Abed both wearing Jeff's jacket at the same time

Jeff: "That show [The Cape] is only going to last three weeks!"
Abed: "Six seasons and a movie!"

Re: Community -- "Paradigms of Human Memory" -- 4/21/11

Abed: "Jeff, let's be honest. There's more between you and Shirley than there is between me and Pierce."
Pierce: "How dare you!"

The use of flashbacks within flashbacks was fantastic (Remember the time we went camping...That's what we said when we were painting Shirley's nursery...Don't want a repeat of Caesar Salad Day).

I definitely felt bad for the Dean when Jeff yelled at him. Loved his flash comic there at the end; it was funny, creepy, sad, and sort of made you sympathize with the Dean a little.

---

What an awesome episode. This show managed to take some of the worst episodes of shows (clip shows) and turn it into something truly brilliant. Using new footage and things we hadn't seen was great; it felt like there were at least 20 episodes worth of material that they flashed back to and yet somehow, only seeing bits and pieces worked very well.

Loved the dig at Glee...they all died on a bus accident, lol.

---

I thought the ending with Chang was really sad, about him not knowing whether he was part of the group or not. It was even sadder if you happened to notice that on the diorama, Chang was standing outside the study room, looking in at the group through the window

The monkey hitting Chang in the back of the head in the vent was great

Normally I look forward to Abed and Troy to close the episode, but Chang delivered the laughs from the beginning to the end!

And the Dean's comic had me

That and the adventure to Mexico with the drug runners.

And did I see the ghost of Pierce's grandfather in the haunted house?

Another great episode. This and Modern Family are just way above every other comedy on network tv, IMO.

I also pointed out Chang standing outside the group in the diorama to my wife. At least he has some great memories with Annie's Boobs.

Glad someone else noticed it. It was very subtle, and I'm glad they didn't have Chang see it. When the characters said a lot of dark things have happened on the show, they were definitely right.

I loved this episode and the new "flashbacks" especially Dean Pelton's costumes.

The line was actually. "There's more between you and Annie than there is between me and Pierce."

Forgot to mention:

The long lingering look montage was awesome plus they finally resolved the missing pen mystery from earlier this season.

The pen was a mystery for about 20 minutes. Resolved in the same episode.

Re: Community -- "Paradigms of Human Memory" -- 4/21/11

When I saw the description on the channel guide (which was not nearly as detailed as the one above), I thought, "wow, they're doing a clip show? That could be lame." Shame on me for thinking they would fall prey to the usual cliches.

My girlfriend has over 30 Threadless shirts. A couple weeks ago Abed wore her "Night Gardener" shirt and ever since, I've been waiting to see when their tastes matched up. I was hoping with so many "clips" tonight, we'd get another, but alas, that title was reserved for you.
