Can't wait. Its one of my favorite shows on TV. They won't be able to top season 6, but I'm still in. Plus I watch it with my daughter, so it makes it even better.

Thats great I always enjoy shows so much better if my kids are into it and its age appropriate. My kids are 14 and 13 so there's prob not much they haven't learned in school. I have a daughter so NO MTV at my house!

One of my favs too. I'm ok with them not topping season 6....the stuff with Phil Harris was heartbreaking and tough to watch.

Already a couple interesting stories carrying over from last season: how will the Harris boys do without their dad and is Edgar Hansen really serious about giving up finishing?

Nice start to the season. Every year I wonder how can another season of watching more or less the same guys doing more or less the same thing still be interesting...but it is. One thing that has helped dramatically over the years is the improved cinematography, and another is the improved storytelling. The addition of the new boats this year is a big plus as well.

I was a bit underwhelmed with the first episode. It was weird having it start right into the season (after the Phil tribute) without any scenes from the dock or the captain's bar.

I feel the opposite about the new boats. I wish that had stuck with the big 4 and the Kodiac. I'm sure plenty goes on to fill a season without needing to add 2 more boats to the show.

I'm with Noonan. I wish they'd just keep the Northwestern, Cornelia Marie, Wizard, Time Bandit and Kodiak. I like Wild Bill.

I can't stand the young captain guy already. The one who kicked the guy who cooked off his boat.

I really think Jake is going to go nutsy. He's had a lot of tragedy happen so close together. He belongs on the Cornelia Marie, not the Northwestern. :D

See, I think that's what makes them valuable to the show. It's makes it more interesting not to like everybody. I know, there's aways uber-a$$hole Keith, but more variety will help.

I can't believe he tried to act like a tough captain by firing someone, but then blamed it all on the rest of the crew like he had no choice.

Weird that they had no captains meeting, or captains wager this year. they didnt do the wager last year either. Teh scuffle between Johnathan and Keith may have had something to do with that, though.

I thought that was a real douchey thing to do. He wanted to gain the respect of the other crew emmbers by excercising his authority, then cut his feet out from under hismelf by blaming it on the rest of the crew. He's the captain. the buck stops with him. He acted too much like the kid he is.

Not a lot of love for this season it seems. Can't really blame people.

Last night was pretty boring. Not to sound harsh, but they need to let go the stuff with Jake on the Northwestern and be careful with overdoing the Phil stuff IMO.

The season has been enjoyable for me so far. But yeah, with not much new drama they are going back to a few wells for that.

Weird, I started seeing commercials for this again so I kinda assumed a new season was starting, but the commercials didn't say "new season starts on xx/xx/xx!" Not until I saw this thread did I know for sure. Thankfully they always replay the crap out of stuff so I'll catch the ones I missed. Love this show.

According to tonight's episode, a scuffle the week before the start of fishing between Andy and Monte (and both boat's crews in general) may have led to scuttling the meeting this year.

Anybody still watching?

I caught up with the last 3 episodes last night and started to enjoy it again. I don't really care to see the Cornelia Marie any more, but other than that, it has been decent. It was sad to see Freddy move to the Wizard, but it was the right move for him.

I'm still watching. Jake & Josh are just a couple of assholes that want to be TV stars instead of true crabbers. I even read on the Discovery board that Josh was only on the boat for 24 hours one season to film scenes for the show and then Discovery passed it off to the viewers that he was there for the entire season.

Josh is one of those kids you just wish someone would slap some sense into him.

Kind of surprised to see Edgar actually skip a trip.

Anyway, really enjoying the season. I don't know why it doesn't get stale despite the limited setting and subject matter, but it just doesn't.

Also enjoyed the "Greenhorns" special episode. For those DVR the series, my DVR did not pick it up as an episode, so I only heard about it through a promo when I got distracted and didn't FF through a commercial break in the show. It airs again this Sunday at 3 pm central for anyone who missed it.

Just a heads up, it looks like weekly episodes of 'After the Catch' start airing after tomorrow nights episode. Happened to notice it in the listings - the DVR did not pick it up as an episode of Deadliest Catch. I find these just as entertaining as the actual show.

You mean Jake right? Jake's the one that went to rehab and the one that the captain was saying was taking drugs during King Crab.

You're right, I was thinking of Jake. ;)

Too true. :D But maybe just one or two for Josh. Jake could use more hands than on a sexy Indian deity upside his head.

After just watching Josh's tirade on ATC, I think he now needs a kick in the teeth.:D

Woah, I live about 2 minutes from where After The Catch was filmed.

Not surprising to see what happened when Derrick and the boys were at the table.

It would be interesting to see Edgar run the boat. Would Sig sit out the season or would he be sitting next to Edgar like the Hillstrands do?

If Sig sat in the wheelhouse no doubt it would make for some great TV.
