Re: My X-files journey

This got me really stoked to start my own rewatch. So tonight I'm gonna start it. Best show ever. Still holds up. I'm a fan of all the seasons. Seems like a lot of people, don't really dig the later ones, but I thought they were just as good. I also liked the second movie.

Re: My X-files journey

I like these rewatch threads with Star Trek and with the X-Files...I may do my own at some point soon. I have a couple of shows in mind.

Re: My X-files journey

I'll add my thanks to this thread as well. I had started an X-Files rewatch a couple years ago and it stalled out mid Season 6. Now I'm anxious to get it going again.

I can't wait to read more of your thoughts as you go!

Re: My X-files journey

I feel someone should decide to explore the music and videos of Journey. Then they can start a thread and call it My Journey Journey.

4 "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" David Nutter Darin Morgan October 13, 1995 3X04 15.38[7]

Mediocre Episode but this line exchange between Mulder and the Psychic saved it:

You know there are worse ways to go but i can't think of a more undignified one than auto erotic asphyxiation.

Why you telling me that?

Look forget I mentioned it. It's none of my business.

Re: My X-files journey

Surprised you didn't like "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" very much because I think it is one of the best episodes from the show. I've probably watched it more than any other individual episode, but I'm a fan who also prefers the stand-alone "Monster of the Week" episodes over the serialized "Mythology" episodes about the alien invasion conspiracy.

Re: My X-files journey

The auto erotic asphyxiation line was funny if for no other reason than you can totally see that being the way Mulder dies. "Clyde Bruckman" was my favorite episode until "Bad Blood" came along.

mhg83, can I ask what didn't you like about the episode?

Interesting seeing a negative on Clyde. IIRC, that's always been a top 5 fan fave.

I'm just not that into stories revolving around Psychics. Mulder and Scully are always good but if the supporting cast isn't intriguing, I can't keep my interest.

Peter Boyle won an Emmy for his role in this episode.

I always thought this story put an interesting spin on the idea of physic ability. There's Mulder playing the skeptic about the Stupendous Yappi (who was played by Mulder's stand-in), Clyde criticizing the tabloid, being one number off on every single number on his lottery ticket, and the killer not understanding why he does the things he sees himself doing.

I loved this episode when it aired. I ended up loving all of Darin Morgan's scripts for the show (didn't see Humbug until after this one).

I was also tired and not all there. When I finish Season 3 I'll re-visit the ep.

I popped in the pilot last night. Might give season 1 a go. Haven't watched it since it originally came out on DVD.

Re: My X-files journey

If psychics aren't your thing then an episode about a psychic unwillingly helping Mulder and Scully find a serial killer targeting psychics probably isn't going to be very appealing.

I'd be interested to know what you think about "Pusher"

Re: My X-files journey

Is the show on in syndication anywhere now? I have all the seasons but would enjoy just seeing a random episode here and there. Surely it's on one of the gazillion cable channels out there?

I just searched through Time Warner and there's a channel called YooToo that airs it several days a week!

YouToo showed up for me as well(logged in), but I searched in a different browser (not logged in to make sure it wasn't a local thing) and it didn't show up. At any rate, you have an answer.

Re: My X-files journey

I burned through seasons 1-7 pretty quickly on Netflix. Took a little longer to get through season 8 as I just watched it here and there. Still need to watch season 9. I actually like Doggett. He starts out as a bigger skeptic than Scully.

5 "The List" Chris Carter Chris Carter October 20, 1995 3X05 16.72[7]

Good episode. Liked how the bad guy was really never caught and got away at the end. Or was his job done at the end and spirit moved on?

6 "2Shy" David Nutter Jeffrey Vlaming November 3, 1995 3X06 14.83[7]
at all the outdated computer tech. If this episode aired today I think it would've been a lot easier to find the killer. It would be something like Match.com, Craigslist, or facebook where the killer would find his victims.
