Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Great episode. Glad the girl finally found out what happened to her father. Mags is going to be out for blood now.

Looks like Boyd is going to be back up to no good now. I knew he couldn't stay out of trouble for long.

After Mags said that she didnt get a chance to say goodbye, I wish Raylan had replied "Did Loretta get a chance to tell her daddy goodbye?

Re: Justified -- "Brother's Keeper" -- 4/06/11

I was hoping against hope that Boyd had a master plan and his play tonight was for that, but it certainly does look like the shift is on and he's not going to stay on the up and up.

Great episode. Glad to see the advancement of the Bennett storyline. (And glad it was Coover too.) Hope the girl is out of harm's way for good. The clip with Art's comment kind of advances that statement he made last time and catching Raylan guarding the door for Winona. That's pretty good. (Plus, Winona's reaction in the clip was pretty typical, I thought.)

Can't wait for next week!

Great stuff, but I can't understand why if the coal company was going to resort to eminent domain to take the mountain, why they can't also use eminent domain to take land to create access roads to the mountain.

LOVED IT.

With the way he was getting it handed to him again at the mine, does anyone still think he was "faking it" at Mama's store? That poor Coover sure lead a short, tortured life. Thanks, Mom.

Will Boyd end up the kingpin when the smoke clears this season? Sure seems like he is being placed in a very good place.

Sure missed Art this episode.

Looking forward to next week.

Loved the last 15 minutes.

Mags is cold blooded, they almost made Coover a sympathetic character by showing how little she gave a shit about him.

Re: Justified -- "Brother's Keeper" -- 4/06/11

Fantastic episode.

I figured someone was going to die this week, and while I'm sorry to see Coover go, I'm really glad it wasn't Dickie. Coover's presence will be sorely missed (by me at least) because in contrast to the rest of the characters who are usually pretty rational and think before acting, Coover was volatile and reactionary. He was sort of a wildcard for Raylan, and I liked never knowing exactly how he would respond to a given situation.

Dickie was great this episode as well. Loved the scene with Raylan denying Dickie entry to the house, as well as the interrogation scene. Dickie's reaction to Coover keeping the watch was great too; the way Jeremy Davies delivered those lines was great, portraying all at once disbelief, frustration, teasing, and anger.

I like the Loretta character, but for her sake I hope we don't see or hear from her again, other than maybe a passing reference by Raylan.

I'm really looking forward to hearing how Boyd got Arlo and Helen to turn over the property to him. Nice to see him outmaneuvering Ms. Johnson; she definitely shouldn't have underestimated him. I imagine he's working some angle with Mags too, just not sure what he's got up his sleeve. I'm not ready to say he's going to go back to his old ways just yet, but I'm definitely interested in seeing where they're going to take the character for the rest of this, and next, season.

I think they succeeded in making him a sympathetic character. No one ever really cared about him and they always treated him like garbage. The only thing he ever had was being the baby of the family, and even that was taken away from him. He definitely wasn't a good guy, but hearing what Mags said about him and seeing her reaction to his death (she seemed much more worried about losing Loretta) at least lets us sympathize with him in the end.

And speaking of the last scene, you're right, Mags was indeed cold-blooded. I can't wait for the final showdown between Raylan and the remaining Bennetts. Hard to believe we still have 4 episodes left; feels like so much has already happened this season.

I had problems with my recording. What happened after Raylan told Mags she couldn't talk to Loretta?

I wondered about that too. Maybe they can take the mountain for the coal but they can't take the valley too.

Kaitlyn Dever is an impressive young actress

I know everyone loves to talk about how great Olyphant and Goggins are in their respective roles (and I totally agree), but if one person deserves an Emmy from this series it's Margo Martindale. She is amazing.

This season has been so much better than the first. It's reminding me of Breaking Bad in how it just gets better as it progresses.

Re: Justified -- "Brother's Keeper" -- 4/06/11

I really liked what they did with the Dickey character this week - they gave him a little depth and more intelligence. The scene with Coover was obviously very good, but I thought the scene at the party where he tried to diffuse things and ended up on the same side with Raylan when Hobart was acting up was really well done too. I like how the show has small moments where even people on opposite sides end up on the same side every once in a while.

My only nitpicks - why didn't the girl leave the room before she called Raylan? And were the properties Mags/Boyd got signed up really the only way to get a road up the mountain? While it may have been the easiest/cheapest route I'd think the company would look a little harder before giving up 4% of their parent company for one deal on one mountain (like Mags said the company would likely just cut their losses and move on), nor would a decision likely be made that quickly.

That drove me crazy. Especially right after she sees that Dickie is in the room. And then she goes on to do another thing that always annoys me in films/tv...running in a straight line down the middle of the road when a car is chasing you.

If the only way to get up the mountain to get the coal out was to build a road on either the land Mags or Boyd controls, why didnt Boyd cut a side deal with the company for just a bit less?

Because as Mags said "the county is his" outside of dealing in weed, so he can be free to do as he wishes.

I think mags had already been buying most of the other properties where a road could go.

This was a great episode. Margo Martindale is simply fantastic, it's such a pleasure to watch her working in this. She elevates the whole show by bringing it the way she does. Loved the singing. The meeting where she played the agent like that, 'sending you in here without knowing the particulars and all'. Great stuff.

I agree with all the Emmy talk for Margo, I was posting that early in the season. She's such a talent.

Yeah both of those were outright pathetic. A million and one ways both plot points could have been handled in much better ways with the exact same outcome. I was actually surprised they just phoned it in with mindless plot devices like that. Not the norm for this show and it was painfully obvious.

Also the 'I just can't put the watch in my pocket, I have to keep it out in the open even though I came here to steal it'. Weak as hell.

Still a better episode than the last couple.

The look Olyphant gave her pretty much SAID exactly that, without using words, which was more powerful IMO. Really solid episode, glad Coover is gone and seeing Boyd back up to his old tricks was great. Things are definitely heating up and I really like that the 'case of the week' stuff is starting to fall by the wayside, because the continuous arc is MUCH MORE INTERESTING. Love this show.
